It was marketed wrong. If it wasn't marketed as a horror movie, people's expectations would of been completly different. It was good, not his best but good none less. Production and set design was fantastic and the look of the film was fantastic. Didnt need to use CGI which is always a good thing.
Mentally challanged people are not brainless and stupid. They do have emotions and can operate with some functionality. Throughout the whole movie you see Noah being able to do many things without help at all. So it is plausible to find Ivy in a forest. Also, we have no clue how long he escaped from the quiet room.

7/10
You want to know why I liked this movie?
Spoiler:
I liked this movie for all the reasons most of you hated it. I think M. Night is basically making fun of us all in this movie. He knows what we wanted, the thrills and chills of Signs with a blind siding ending like The Sixth Sense. This movie was much more subtle, and could even be seen to have some moral lesson. The acting was superb, the location and filming was great, the storyline was well thought out and effectively delivered, and it had a few scary parts to boot. The point is, this is more M. Night's style. After Signs (which I loved), I thought he was heading for mainstream. I was glad to see that Village had more of an Unbreakable feel to it.
