The Bible

I love scare tactics, they worked for Hitler, and now they're working for Christianity. Woohoo.

In fact we are many 🙂 who can understand the Holy Bible.
And I'm very sorry to know that you guys don't. 🙂

God is God, no matter what you say. 🙂

And blind faith is blind faith, unshakable it seems. 😬

🙄 closedeyes

God killed the first born of every Egyptian, flooded the Earth, burned down Soddom and Gommorah, and probably killed countless other people. Funny, seeing as this is the same being that told us that killing is a sin. This contradiction immediately makes him imperfect. You apparently cannot see that. This is all from the Bible YOU and other Christians believe in. Therefore, you and other Christians should believe this happened. What I belive is irrelevant, but the God you believe in appears to be a murdering lunatic. He killed the entire human race at least twice, talk about genocide.

thats the thing you know, we understand it for what it is. While you and your likes makes faith out of makebelieve

And so let it be.
There you shine in your understanding. 🙂

I rest my case. 😎

There you shine in your understanding
which is a perfectly clear one as well

No Christian/Jew/Muslim has a response to justify God breaking his own rules? Noone can justify how it's OK for God to kill and not humans? Can noone defend their God's purity and perfection?

Well certanly not Jury. He skirts around the question or gives an unclear answer.

Because according to the bible, he did. Whether or not I believe it is irrelevent. I don't see what your point of asking if I believe it is. According to the bible, it happened, therefore, to all of you christians it happened. Therefore, the god you believe in broke his own rules, according to the bible

and he responded

No, He didn't broke His own rules. Only you people who do not believe in the Bible say He did, which is not surprising at all.

Thats not even answering the question! AND it makes no sence whatsoever. So him killing people is him NOT breaking the thou shalt not kill rule? Thats just plain hypocritical! Or do you not believe in that part of the bible? then you only believe in the parts of the bible that suit you? but still have blind faith??

Please explain!

A straight answer? Does god, or does god not violate his own law of 'thou shalt not kill' in the cases of the great floods and the killing of every first born child when he freed the Hebrews from the Egyptians. Of course he does! If he didn't, they wouldn't have died. You can promise the innocent heaven or make it out to be as divine an act as you like if that puts your mind at rest. But in order to 'receive their promise' they first had to be killed. And guess who killed them...

I'm not having a go at your god necessarily. I'm saying, choose your beliefs wisely. You can believe in god without believing in the bible literally, word for word. Just don't be a fool and say "I whole heartedly believe in this book" and then shove your head in the sand when the contradictions and inconsistencies in the stories are brought to attention.

You can believe in god without believing in the bible
yes the deist do that

"No Christian/Jew/Muslim has a response to justify God breaking his own rules? Noone can justify how it's OK for God to kill and not humans? Can noone defend their God's purity and perfection?"

I hope you are not looking for these kind of answers on a movie forum, if you really want to know such answers such as those do some research. Hell I found one from the link Back Fire posted on rational christanity. I would post the link but I must be " known better "

and this isn't a movie forum, this is the subsection of the general discussion forum

The website is based on movies, not really the place that people go to look for to find all the answers to there questions of if the Bible is fact or fiction. and supporting wether or not it is.

the Christian God is also a jealous God. What were those 7 Deadly Sins again...?

My theology teacher told me that he will answer this question over the course of the class, and I'm impatient to hear what kind of excuse he can pull out of his ass. He said God never sins, but in the bible he is envious and murderous. hmmm... well, I'll see what he has to say.

It may be a movie message board, but this forum is clearly marked "Philosophy". Besides there is no amount of research that will say that God never killed anyone, I just want to see who can justify this.

This isnt so much a reply or a response as it is just a general question for all of you. Why do you have to question what others believe. Atheist, Christian, Jew, Muslim, you are what you are for your beliefs, in life, in your God, or lack of. Your faith is yours. So if you wanna disprove someones belief in a higher being, give up, beliefs are beliefs because they arent swayed by skepticism. let me believe in my God, and you believe in yours, or dont believe in a God at all. just dont find little psuedo-intellegent-letmesoundsmart answers and questions for it all.

Heres my take on it all though. Morals are a standard that people have set, not God. God made people, to be of free will. We commit murder and it is immoral because we are human, as is the person we kill, we are no better or worse than them. GOd cannot be immoral because morals are human rules made to make us feel bad about being human.

how come you are judging people without knowing them personally? are people here not worthy enough for you to answer questions?

Relax, I am not judging anyone here, if you can't find the answers to your questions here I suggested you look somewhere else.

I am this way because I encounter Christians all the time trying to disprove evolution and science. They do it to me, I do it to them(oh, that means im going to hell!).

God made the 10 Commandments, which are a set of morals and rules. He himself broke them, so even if he IS above the rules, he sets a poor example for the human race. Why should we act differently from a perfect being, if being perfect is our goal? Check out the evolution thread, and you will see the other side of the story. Christians try to place doubts in me about Evolution, I try to place doubts in them about God.

Look what religion has done! Already we are bickering! and you haven't been here for more than a couple weeks!
