The Qur'an doesn't claim that. Allah is another word for God, the one god. The same god of Moses and Abraham and Jesus.

...So no, I didn't grow up being taught the Bible was the Word of God. I grew up being taught that the Bible wasn't necessary.

At some point in your life, someone told you that the bible was the word of god. Whatever reason you have for believing this, it boils down to culture. You are part of the western culture, therefore you believe in what is appropriate for the west. If you try to look outside of your culture, you will find something surprising. I recommend The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell as a starting point.

it's a factual narrative embelished by hebrew propaganda of its historical context and myth.

Uh... no. 😕

Allah is the moon god of the Arabian culture.

Just like Thor is the thunder god of Norse culture.

And Poseidon is the sea god of Greek culture.

Jehovah is the Vengeance God of the Hebrew culture. Jesus is just the face Jehovah was given to win over Greek converts by infusing Platonic ideas into an otherwise unpalatable regional deity.

And if you knew anything about pre-Muslim Arab religion, you'd know that the Moon deity was a Goddess, and that only some aspects of her cult survive today in Islam, arguably in smaller portions than the pagan aspects surviving in all Christian denominations.

Dude...you could have delivered so much more pwnage.

You should have also said this:

"YHWH is the God of Forgiveness."

"YHWH is the God of Justice."

"YHWH is the God of Mercy."

"YHWH is the God of Chastity."

"YHWH is the God of Truth."

"YHWH is the God of War."

"YHWH is the God of Knowledge."

Man, I just thought of about 10 others and I have grown bored of this.

Basically, the Hebrew People were the best ancient people at Dungeons and Dragons. "My God can beat up your God. Oh, and He is intangible but mostly fire, is ominipotent, omniscient, and can be omnipresent. HAHA! *shakes Jewish fist of triumph*"

Edit - Biggest attribute that needs to be mentioned: "YHWH is the God of racism."

I can agree to this for the most part. Some of it is definitely symbolic and should not be taken literally. Some of it is literal. Some of it is cross-culture assimilation.

Well, what if that someone was God via revelation after sincere prayer and supplication? I tend to think that that is the reason most sincere people believe that they believe. I also think they are correct in their belief even if everyone contradicts each other.

Playing the “what if” game with god only leads to delusion. It requires that you know something about God that you don’t, and never will.

The Hebrew Scriptures are facts....the Bible is what ever you want it to be.

The English Bible is a translation.
A very poor translation.
It has removed the Name of the Creator and replaced His wonderful Name with title that belong to Satan the Devil.
The Creator Whose Name is YAHWEH was never known by the title God until the lying translators changed the Scriptures to have people worship God.

Think this sound strange?
Your not alone.
Here is a great place to start your search for the truth found in the Hebrew Scriptures.

May the same Spirit that inspired the Hebrew prophets and apostles of the REAL HEBREW MESSIAH bless your understanding in your search for truth.

You have a great imagination. You could write a future Da Vinci Code. ;-)

The Bible is a mixture of historical events, metaphors, parables, etc. Some of it is to be taken literaly while other parts are not.

So is Gone with the Wind.

I do believe the Bible was a series of chronicles similar to the Iliad, but more how Ancient Greeks and Mesopotamians would have written their mythologies. Sects of ancient Muslim, Israeli, Jewish Christian or Jehovahn calligraphers in churches come to mind.

Jehovahs are ancient?

I meant as in the more Hebrew adherers to Christianity who used the name 'Jehovah', as opposed Yahweh, in The Old Testament. There is a difference between adherers to the Old Testament and the New Testament...before it was all put into one book that is.

Not the same as Jehovah's witness. There are no modern Jehovahs. Now it's just denominations of Christians...technically.

The Bible is the Catholic translation of the Hebrew Scriptures and a very poor one.

Back about 1611 the pope read the K.J.V. English translation and said this is a great translation for the protestants.
Let them have this translation all they will do with this is become God worshipers. And it was so.

Fact. Non-believers are deceivers.

Deceivers come in all types. Also, generalizations are rarely factual. Fact is more nuanced then that.

I think I know what you're trying to say.

A person who says that they are a believer but is actually a deceiver is not actually a believer but a wolf in sheep's fur?

Let me be more clear:

Matthew 7:21-22

"21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

http://biblehub.com/kjv/matthew/7.htm

You know what those 3 verses mean? I see those superchurch preachers who are supposedly casting out demons and forgiving sins. The ones that amass large amounts of money while doing their thing. I also see those degenerates that abuse, steal, or murder others while seemingly professing to be a Christian or "true believer" of Christ.

You cannot say, "I am a very nice person" while stabbing someone in the guts. It just does not work like that.

So if I interpreted your words correctly, I agree with them.

If you meant or intended to spread hate by saying everyone that does not believe in your particular brand of God is an evil person, then you're an *sshole and you need to stop and evaluate what kind of person God really wants you to be.
