Reply to ElectricBugaloo- Fair do's i guess but he's just done so much stuff that i think it'd be impossible to not like even 1 song.

Reply to Harusho- Is Benji Madden the one from Good Charlotte? if so, its your perogative but doesn't exactly measure up tothe greats! No offence...

Best Guitarists of Recent years

ok, simple really...whenever theres a best guitarist thread its full of old guitarists (not denying theyre the best), so i wanna see a list of Guitarists of recent years who you think are good 😉

Ben Weinman - Dillinger Escape Plan

ill add some more when i think of them 😕

*unpreparedness is a virtue, i swear*

John Frusciante (and you KNOW it.) - Red Hot Chili Peppers/solo artist
Josh Klinghoffer - Bicycle Thief
Dave Navarro - Jane's Addiction

agree with Ikobe...........................just a silent note: most of those old good old guitar heroes are still around though 😮‍💨

Yeah John Frusciante. How recent are we going? Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead is awesome as well as being inventive so is the guy (Matt Bellamy I think) from Muse but his band is crap. James Dean Bradfield from Manic Street Preachers is my favourite God though. And he's recent.

I know he's been around for a while but Prince is an outrageous guitarist.

Micheal Romeo - Symphony X (don't know if you would call that recent since they've been out for 10 years but it's relative I guess)

My faves though and I just have to mention them 😮 (and these are well, not old old but old enough lol) are Slash and Richie Sambora.

Heehee, Prince, yeah. (:

Um... what about bassists? Flea, Krist Novoselic... the Pixies lady...

Tom Morello - Rage Against The Machine
Synyster Gates - Avenged Sevenfold
Peter Lindgren - Opeth
James Shaffer & Brian Welch - Korn (go on flame me. You know you want to.)
Jesper Stromblad - In Flames
Miguel Roy - Cryptopsy
Stephen Carpenter - Deftones
Rob Barret - Malevolent Creation
Trey Azagtoth - Morbid Angel

there's more, mostly death metal guitarists though..

ok, prince doesn't belong in this discussion for 2 reasons:

1) not recent despite just releasing an album and touring

2) can't hold a candle to Frusciante, Navarro or Morello

the agnew brothers, rikk, frank, and alfie, from-christian death, DI, the adolescents, TSOL, flower lepperds, the ADZ, and others

Ok the first reason i can understand but how recent is recent?
I beg to differ on the second reason. Once again i'll just say this, watch Rave Un2 the Year 2000, One Night Alone or The Undertaker and you'll understand what i'm on about.

Tom Morello from Rage

as for bassists, Krist Novoselic

*grins* well, to me few can hold a match to John let alone a candle... and I'm not just saying that because of this although I am highly excited about it... six albums, count 'em, baby...

but anyway... I think Prince is pretty cool. Granted, he won't sing sex songs any more but I can live with that (;

Lenny Kravitz? I don't know if he's one of the best guitarists or whatever but I used to enjoy his music when I was little. *shrugs*

Kirk Hammet- Metallica
He's one the top 5 guitarists of all time. Listen to his solos from some of Metallica's earlier stuff, it's rediculous

Zack Wylde- Black Label Society

sorry, by recent i mean Bands that are still around and in their prime, not faded memories of once decent bands...

so sure, some of the old guitar legends may be around, but theyre not in their prime

I dont care about new guitarists. Jimmy Hendrix rockon
