Btw did anyone here read the 2 Venom paperback novels written by that Candido guy back in the 90's?

I remember seeing his entry for Ann Weying on the Women of Marvel page and emailing him asking if he and I were the only 2 people in the world who cared about the character... to which he went into a long spiel how she was as tortured as Eddie was and that it wasn't his fault Marvel handled her so poorly; it made me curious what he had written about her in his novels...

When I emailed him recently out of the blue he was damn surprised and angered to hear that Weying had killed herself like she had. Kinda amusing to think that Marvels storylines can anger a professional writer. 😛

Seriously, not only were the other superhero cameos pointless, but most of those heroes suck anyway! The only cool one out of the whole lot was Captain America. All the other relevant heroes were "out of town", so we had to deal with the likes of Deathlok, Morbius, and whoever the hell Nightwatch was (damn Spawn wannabe). Morbius isn't even a damn hero!
To top that off, the story was entirely too long. I still believe it could have just been a four-parter. It should have been Carnage and Shriek versus Spidey and Venom, and maybe Black Cat. Those were the only characters who were remotely interesting or relevant in the whole thing.
Honestly, I bought the collected editions for nostalgia only, although I do love the last part of the story. It was the most well-written, most well-drawn, and only had the important characters. Although, I must say, nothing as far as the storyline was very different in the end then it was in the beginning. I think its only purpose was to cement Carnage in Spidey's rogues gallery, and in that it succeeded.

Well, she could have had his sister before he was born. Or Eddie's father could have impregnated another woman afterward.

doubt it, eddies dad didn't seem like to type to be with another woman. he lost the love of his life when eddie was born, hence why he was hard on him and never could love him.

if he loved her that much he wouldn't go with another woman

It also said in this profile thing that she was in some kind of accident involving Nova and that this was basically the excuse Venom gave for kicking Nova's @$$.

That has to be one of the stupidest storyline elements I've ever heard... glad this was the first I've heard of it.

Agreed. That's why I wanted to write this fanfic. To establish these characters eluded to as people rather than excuses for Venom's bad behavior. 😛

Who's Nova? 😕

Well I know of 2 Marvel characters that used the "Nova" distinction.

The first was a member of the New Warriors. He wore a spiffy looking costume and could fly and had super strength...

The second was a Herald of Galactus I believe, (I'm PRETTY sure that her name was Nova).

I'm assuming that the Nova that Venom fought was the flying New Warrior member and not the Human-torch-esque Herald of Galactus. 😄

Eddie's father died of cancer, right? I think that was a good move, cementing his relationship with his father in that way.

funny how eddie is also dying of cancer......stomache cancer........also strangely ironic that cletus has a terminal case of stomache cancer................what did these guys do? swallow uranium?

Hmm, I thought it was an adrenal cancer in Eddie? I could EASILY be mistaken.
__I think they may be planning to establish that symbiotes (probably unconsciously/unintentionally) cause cancer as they adapt the host body and its hormonal processes to their needs.
__So far, it's implied that they are drawn to cancer (specifically, it's canon that the V Sym needs adrenalin and that Eddie's cancer has spiked his adrenalin production. Yes, Kasady has cancer, and one wonders if it wasn't why the sym chose to spawn at that moment?).
__Say, Nemo, is it stated that Kasady had cancer all along (before bonding)?
