Grey Fox- If you can't take a little constructive criticism, then I suggest you stop writing right now. I'm not trying to blast your writing. If I was, believe me, I CAN be very insulting when I want to. I'm trying to help you, by giving you the benefit of experience. You're only 14? Okay, well I'm 22, and guess what? I started writing at around 14, and I made all the same mistakes you did. But I had to have someone like me tell me what the mistakes were. Because if someone doesn't tell you, then you're going to keep making them, and your writing will never improve.
Okay, so you say you're writing the story for slack-jawed yokel types- Well fine, but as hard as you may try, you don't decide who the audience is. You might get someone like me reading your stuff, JUST so he/she can dissect it, find everything wrong with it, and blast you because of it, WITH the intention of hurting you. Be aware that even if your stuff is geared towards a certain audience, it doesn't necessarily mean that ONLY that audience is going to see it.
Furthermore- you have to be prepared for criticism comrade, especially if you intent to publish it on the internet somewhere. I've gotten to the point now where I basically expect to be criticised for everything I do. And I do. Mind you, some people are arrogant jagoffs about it, and do it in a way that's meant to be insulting (in which case I give them an earful) but for people who do provide good insight, those are the people I listen to. And not just insight on style- but insight on story model, character development, all the facets of the story, not just the technical side.
Believe me when I say this Fox- I think you have potential. But you need to listen to the criticism people give you. You're just starting out, so be prepared to get a lot of criticism. You haven't yet developed a style, you still need to polish your grammar and spelling, and you need to develop your characters and plots. All of that comes with time and practice. Just don't let people's criticism get you down, but don't ignore them either. Keep developing. And don't sell yourself short by saying 'Oh, well I'm writing for idiots, so I don't need to improve my style" That's a self defeating attitude, and trust me, you'll never be able to develop with it.

And Mane, does it really surprise you to know that I love Vader? In fact, he was my very first non-cartoon, non-comic book love. I was 6 or 7 in 1978, and quite smitten by the evil Darth Vader--especially his voice. I was disappointed when I finally saw his face in "Jedi"--it made me feel as dejected as when I realized that Casey Kasem was the voice of Shaggy, whom I have loved since I was 3 or 4.

Not bad. Just evil. I like the part-time evil-doer--the type that can do something kind for someone and then revert back to their previous state on a whim. I think that pretty much the bulk of my favorite characters could be classified as merely "semi-evil"--like myself.
A good inner nature balanced with a healthy disdain for most of society.

I think a biiiiiiig problem for many would-be fanfic authors is this: they want to write, yet don't really like to read themselves. Therefore they have no idea what separates good writing from BAD writing, and they have almost no knowledge of proper grammar and syntax. So, they end up with these abominations that make people who know what they're looking at want to set the entire world on fire via 25 strategically-placed, simultaneously-detonating suitcase-nukes.
I'm a novice fanfiction-person myself. I can tell you though, when I read this stuff with NO time taken to tell us what the main protagonists are thinking or feeling, NO character development AT ALL or my personal bete-noir, PEOPLE WRITTEN OUT OF CHARACTER, it just...... grrraAAHHHHHH! I want to Hulk out, swear to God.
Would-be authors: by the time you are in your mid-teens, you are more than old enough to be able to know how to create topic-sentences, have a rudimentary knowledge of spelling and old enough to have a grasp on punctuation. If you're not using these tools, most people reading your stuff get no further than sentence #2 before we skip the rest of what you wrote in annoyance.
I know that sounds harsh, which its not meant to be, but it needs to be said.

This is one of over a dozen costumes I have made from scratch--they are a labor of love--as well as being labor intensive. The same year I also made a Wolverine costume for my husband, but he cannot wear his anymore. It reminds me of that scene in "The Incredibles" where he tries to put his suit on after all those years...a deep breath and pull! Nope, not gonna happen. So much for retaining his girlish figure after having three sons...but, there is still hope for me, as long as I stow all this Halloween candy!
