Eddie with Whoopi Goldberg. Napoleon Dynamite had funny characters and funny lines but there was no story. its like he came up with a gimmick and went with it.
"Seinfeld" was/is the most successful comedic sitcom in the history of television. It had no plot. The "plot" of Napoleon Dynamite was just the everyday life of Napoleon himself! Sometimes, not having a plot is better than having a plot, but it totally failing. Catch my drift?

Sienfeld sucked too....
so, no plot=mucho sucko
Ugh, I agree, that show annoyed the hell out of me whenever I attempted to watch it. That and Friends are probably the two most over rated shows of all time. Just a group of yuppies whining about everything. The only redeeming factor was Kramer, who was at least a bit funny.
The difference between Sienfeld and ND is in the characters. In Sienfeld were annoying whiners. Jerry alwasy bitched about everything, and George just whined all the time and complained about how ugly he was. The characters in ND were extremely unique and unlike any others I can think of.
There are very few movies that are bad enough for me to turn them off..........normally I can tolerate them in hopes that the movie will get better.
The last two that were so bad I had to turn off were:
Van Helsing - made it about 45 minutes in.....giving it the benefit of the doubt. Just couldn't take it anymore.
XXX - only made it like 9 minutes. Vin Diesel can't act. He speaks as though he's reading Que cards........and he's dislexic. Seriously, like 9 minutes........I turned it off as he met Sam Jackson.
Not a fan of "xXx", but his lines in the first 9 minutes or so were him speaking into a camera for a documentary of a stunt he was going to pull, so it was only natural they sounded kind of contrived.
45 minutes into "Van Helsing"? Yikes. I gave it 10 before deciding a pine tree enema would have been more tolerable than that shitstorm on celluloid.
It seems to me that many people are "judging" according to trivial, unreasoble prejudices. Fiction is the only area where we can do whatever we imagine, where there are no limits, and where yuou can propose a variety of ideas. The concept of "not having a plot" is extremely dry, many might need to explain a little bit deeper what they mean by it...For me, Seinfeld is an excelent production....
