Torturing Han Solo

They caught Han first if i remember correctly....

What are you some kind of sadist? The poor girl was already interrogated in A New Hope with that big-black-ball-of-doom-bot.

Lucas needed to make Vader hurt someone. Leia already had it done.

Also, it added more reason as to why Lando rebelled - he saw just what his actions had on his old friend.

Also - wouldn't torturring Han "soften him up" for his carbonite freezing? It was probably to make him go without much of a fight.

Lucas says in the ESB commentary it was to lure Luke because he could sense the waves of pain in the force, like yoda in AOTC when Anakin is in emotional pain.
Which killed my old theory which was that Vader just tortured him so he would be weak and he could probe Han's mind with the force and just extract what he needed. But Lucas' version makes more sense. Even though the torture scene took place after Luke said he sensed his friends in pain. But what ever. It's still goo.

if it was Leia: cause she's a woman and he flirts with her
or Chewie: cause they go way down, just like him and han

but if it were the droids: who cares 😉

In EpV, does anyone know why they tortured Han Solo in Cloud City w/o asking him any questions? Were they just torturing him b/c they didnt like him or was it something else?

I found out something very interesting about that part.GL was going to go on farther with the torturing but decided againt it.
I guess he did not want to upset anyone.I am glad that he did not do this because I am a big fan of Han!Anyway I think it was to maybe either get ready to be ice or maybe
To find out where the other rebels were hiding? Not sure,JM 😎

Lila:I love you!

Han:I know! 🙁

I thought I'd read somewhere that they did actually film it but had to cut it to keep it PG...can't remember where I read that. I thought it was in the insider...

THEY TORTURED HAN BECAUSE HIS EX WIFE WANTED MORE MONEY FROM HIM. 108MILLION WASNT ENOUGH ELLEANOR

😑

Vader may find it hard to forgive the fact that it was Han, who blasted him away from the First Deathstar.

Without Han: Luke would be dead, Yavin and the rebellion would be destroyed and Death star would still be quite operational...

I think that is why he was so obsessed about the millenium falcon.
Of course, if he could complete his plan and have some payback while doing it... Why not?

why should I whenyou deleted my last comment

Actually, Vader may not have known who shot him down. He may have never seen the Falcon do it.

BUT - if he did, wouldn't he be kinda happy that Han stopped him from killing his son.

Only with the Death Star being destroyed, did Lukes name get around and Vader then pursuing him.

Without Han, Vader would have stopped Luke, saved the Death Star, and would have to be the Emperors lackey forever because he just wiped out his only hope, and the fact that he killed Obi-Wan also means he'd never find out about Leia. No Jedi apprentice for Vader, and no overthrowing the Emperor.

I bet when Vader caught Solo he said

"this ain't personal, I'm just a father looking for his long lost son, and you helped me, for that I thankyou. If you pretend you are in pain I'll make it worth your while, the Emperor let me have one of the planets that manufacture Mars bars, I'll give you a whole crate. Don't worry it won't even touch you, it'll just spark and light up, honestly, see look it's just the fried circuits of that droid I built when I was an annoying little brat back on Tatooine"

hehe, hilarious Superfly, but i mean if Vader had killed Luke then their would have been a glorious reign of peace over the entire galaxy, no rebellions, no wars.

I mean in EU the Empire is portrayed as being anti-alien but in the films is that evident at all? I mean they let the ewoks live under their noses, they used alien informants. Anyhow i reckon the Empire would be better for the SW galaxy minus the Emperor, but i been pro imperial ever since TIE Fighter and hearing a diffrent opinion on the whole shebang.

Yeah, but that's the EU explanation.

EU is always the more intelligent take on the whole story.

In the George Lucas world, AKA the REAL Star Wars world, the Empire is evil, end of story.

And anything is considerred evil when it wants control.

That's all Vader wanted, if I was Luke and he said to me "with our combined strength, we can end this distructive conflict, and bring order to the galaxy", I'd be like, "hell yeah".

They still allowed planets to go on without them. The Empire wasn't interested in taking over Bespin was it? The Empre couldn't give a damn about Tatooine either. So what's the frikkin problem?

Without order, there is chaos, chaos causes death and war that you can't control.

So what, a Sith Lord has control over the Imperial forces, big deal. He just sits there in his chair and keeps things in order. Does he torture his own people? We don't know.

The only way to make the Empire seem like a bad thing is to have the Empire persecuting their own people. I'm talking about Stormtroopers terrorising the people of Coruscant when Palps takes over and so on.

And I hope Vader adopts the anti-alien thing too, especially on Jar Jar.

Age

This is off topic I know.

But does anyone happen to know exactly how old Han Solo and the others are in a New Hope and so on?

Sorry, I can't seem to find this information anywhere.

They tortured Han to lure Luke there... I thought that was pretty obvious.

the gap between ROTS and ANH is 19, so Luke and Leia are 19

Han is 29 in ANH.
