-KMC THREAD KILLER-
"So how long have you two been...together?" Bill asked. Harry knew that he was trying to change the subject purposely. For what reason, he did not know - only Mrs.Weasley, Ron, and Bill seemed to. Something bad had happened to Luna's grandparents, that was for sure. Harry made a mental note to ask Ron later.
"Er...." Ron was thinking."About half a month, I think."
"Half a month?" Mrs. Weasley said loudly. "Why was I not told of this? I wrote to you a week ago and asked how you were!"
All of the Weasley children and Luna blanched, except for the two twins. If one took a look at them, they might have assumed that Fred and George thought that their birthdays were arriving several months early.
"Sorry, mum. Forgot."
"Forgot?" Mrs.Weasley said heatedly. "Ronnie, you're my youngest son, we and your father care about you! Don't you think we would've wanted to know if you hooked up with a girl?"
Harry realised he had been holding his breath. Ron, who had cringed at his mother's use of his name, now looked painedly at his mother.
"All right, mum...we've started going out, OK? Can you leave me alone now?"
Mrs. Weasley huffed again, and turned to Luna, who looked as if she wanted to sprint out of the large hall and dive under her bed.
"It's very nice to meet you, dear," she said warmly, and everyone could tell she was being genuine. "I had always trusted my son to find such a lovely girl."
She shot a look of annoyance at the twins, who were both sniggering. Luna blushed furiously and shook Mrs.Weasley's hand vigorously.
"Well, we'll be staying to watch the game this afternoon." she told her son. "Good luck, Ronnie."
"Mom, don't call me that again." Ron growled irritably.
"See you, Ronnie." Fred said, winking.
"Good luck for Luna." George said, punching his little brother on the shoulder. "If you need any advice, just - "
"No!" Ron said, very firmly. "I know how she's like, OK? Now, just...leave me alone."
Bill came over and clapped Ron on the back. "Good choice, Ron."
"Thanks, Bill." Ron said, slightly cheered up.
All the Weasleys left for a walk, except Ron.
"You were planning this?" he said furiously to Hermione.
"No, no." she assured him hastily. "Ginny just woke me up and told me some of her family were downstairs, and I just thought that they'd like to meet Luna, that's all."
"They weren't expecting her. What if they don't like her?" Ron said, a tinge of panic edging into his voice.
Hermione snorted so loudly she choked.
Harry stepped in. "Ron, even if you couldn't see that your mum liked Luna, I could, OK? Don't worry, she'll be liked in your family."
Hermione nodded encouragingly.
A sudden thought struck Harry. He turned to Hermione, starting to panic himself.
"I'm going to have to meet your parents sooner or later." Harry told her, his throat very tight.
"Don't worry," she said, putting an arm around him. "They'll like you."
"What are you, crazy?" he said. "My clothes and all are so - "
"Who cares about your scruffiness?" Hermione said testily.
"Me." Harry muttered.
"So? Just you, then. Anyways, I've told mum and dad what you've done over the past few years, and they're quite impressed."
Harry turned to her, a tortured look on his face.
"You what? Hermione, I just want to live a normal life, for crying out loud - I mean, I'm sick of being a hero - "
She interrupted him. "I know you are, Harry...I'll do my best to make sure you have as much of a normal life as possible."
Ron, who had not spoke a single word throughout Harry and Hermione's conversation, told Harry placatingly, "They'll like you, mate. Don't worry."
