The Perceptual American

I was in Human Geography today, and we were discussing how America is a vernacular region because of how other cultures perceive Americans and i just wanted to know exactly how we are perceived. When you think of America, what kind of people come to mind? Also the same goes for Texans, because a girl in my class went to New York and there she was asked if we drove our tractors around.

oh, yes and this should in no way be taken as offensive, i was just curious as to how the world perceived us to be, it's just for fun, a game but if anyone finds it insulting then let me know

I think when most people think of Americans, they think of fat, greedy, ignorant people who care about nothing but themselves. And it's not that far from the truth. But then again, most stereotypes aren't.

When people think of us they think of spoiled brat who have everything. As for Texans, I think you guys wear overalls and drive tractors around your trailor homes, but hey I've never been there.😕

Yea, the Texan thing get's around here, we always wear cowboy boots and eat barbacue as we head in our truck to the rodeo where we can shoot our guns and ride horses while getting drunk.
I always think it's hilarious since I don't eat meat or wear leather and don't go to the rodeo because they are cruel to animals, and i don't like guns at all, i think we shouldn't have them, i live in a normal home, i drive a civic and i've never owned a pair of overalls.

I always enjoy it when i defy stereotypes or the status quo 😛

But arent there alot of rednecks in Texas

seriously, i live in houston and it's a big city, like any other big city, and there probably are texan rednecks, but i just haven't seen any in the city

When I think of americans I think of the fat arrogant peepl having the biggest jerk in a world as a president. And texas....well I never thought of it as something too different from rest of america.
