I know EXACTLY what you mean...as a fellow (and i might add, proud) citizen of Houston, Texas, (living in Atlanta, Ga for Uni.) i find it humorous to no end all the stereotypes of Texans. let me clear this up for everyone reading this. Texans do NOT:
1) Own ranches. Some do, esp. near me, but most texans do not live on ranches, they live in suburbia, esp. in Houston.
2) have cattle or any other livestock
3) Eat barbeque every freaking meal. We have taco bell, Chili's and Dairy queens just like everyone else.
4) wear cowboy hats, boots, chaps, spurs, etc. everywhere. Most people dress the same as anywhere else, except for the fact that our weather is warm (read: F-ing hot) until thanksgiving. Yes, people wear cowboy hats more than the average here, but it is due to necessity more than anything.
5) marry their sister or engage in other backwoods activities (read: incest, cause we may or may not hunt 😉 ...the incest is in Arkansas, and yes, i know that for a fact, because a lot of my family lives there, and i have friends from there)
6) ride horses everywhere. We use what are called 'vehicles' to get us from place to place. in fact, i have not seen 1 hitching post anywhere near my home, except maybe at Saltgrass Steakhouse, but that is part of the ambiance, doesn't count.
i cannot remember any other texan stereotypes, but i know i have not covered them all.
anywho, um...yeah.
