Re: I AM a Republican who was IN NY on 9-11

Excuse me! I AM a Republican who was working in midtown Manhattan before, on, and after 9-11. I LOST 3 Co-Workers who were in Windows on the World during the attack. I would think that someone like you would take national security a little more seriously, because your geographical risk is greater. But perhaps people in the center of this country understand the importance much better because they do not have to suffer all the distractions in daily life that city folk take as a given. They can see a clearer picture. Oh, not to mention that NY's best mayors, Koch and Guliani, understand the threat we're under and what must be done, and both side totally with Bush, so frankly I think your comments are uneducated, uninformed, and full of it.I remember the day well. I remember many times that day hearing people of all stations say Thank God Bush is our President and Not Gore -and much of this came from the NYPD who, being unionized, typically vote Democrat. Why do you think they'd feel that way, why do you think NYPD and NYFD booed Hilary Clinton a few weeks later... because the current Democratic party is spit amongst its fringe groups and cannot offer a solid, stable stance on National Defence -or much of anything for that matter. They can't protect us.
And as for your other comment about no other issues... you obviously get all your information from soundbites and gossip and haven't really been paying attention. 1) The economy -the market started dropping 7 months before Clinton left office (I worked for Bloomberg Fin Markets and saw it daily), that plus 9-11 would've devastated us if it weren't for Bush's economic policies; tax reform, benefits for small business (85% of our companies are sm, bus); 2) education reform -No child left behind is doing a good job cutting through red tape and inane administration of the inner city schools; 3) welfare reform, 4) medicare reform; 5) immigration issues -all being worked on. Sure they didn't create a utopia in 4 years, but 3000 of our people were turned to dust by fundamentalists who hate us for how we live, so I'd say we were a little distracted.
Instead of using bland generalities and assumptions (like your belief that only happy liberals live on the coasts), maybe you can start using facts with the rest of the grown ups.
Thank you for your intervention and derailment of a biased person trying to speak for a whole demographicly and ideologically diverse community. 😄
