I thought it was dismissed when the crew all flashed back to the night Aaron was born, meaning there were two versions of themselves.....or when the crew flashed to 1974 where there are two versions of themselves, 1 on the island and 1 a little kid at home with their parents. Who said there couldn't be two versions of a person in the same time? Whomever it was hasn't been watching the show.......hell, they showed the Orchid orientation video with the bunny rabbit last season or the season before or something, with two versions of the bunny rabbit from different times in the same room together.
Didn't Christian say there was something else she was supposed to do? She and Locke were going to set about doing so but had to first make a pitstop at the temple so Ben could be judged. If there's a task fate needs Sun to complete in '07, flashing her back to '77 would have been a bit counter-productive.
I liked Some Like it Hoth. Good episode. Miles needed a centric. Good character who's been hanging around in the background for two seasons now, throwing out quips but nothing was known about him. Now we know he wasn't part of Widmore's crew, he was just a one-off hired hand independently contracted for this one job......that he knew nothing about. We know Naomi was one of Widmore's henchmen. We know Faraday was working for Widmore and basicly had for a decade as Widmore was financing all of his research. I wonder about Charlotte. The only thing off-island we ever saw of her was the Polar Bear skeleton find in Tunisia.....but it was never revealed if she was working for Widmore at that point.
At the moment, I'm guessing these new mysterious "what lies in the shadow of the statue" people are in league with Eloise Hawking. They seem a bit cultish, when we see her she's wearing a monk's robe. Ben had his others, Widmore had his crack team of scientists and mercinaries.........I'm guessing these are Ellie's crew.
Here's a question I'd like answered but has never been eluded to on the show. Where does Ben and Widmore get their money? Ben has been shown all along to have tremendous financial resources, Widmore from day one was introduced as uber-rich...........yet he lived on the island from atleast 17-47 years of age, only getting away here and there for short periods of time. Does the job of leading a group of people in huts on a desserted island come with a huge bank account and stock options or what?
I thought the "someone not being able to be twice in the same space at the same time" only applied to the same exact spot. Something like TimeCop were there was 2 a future/present version of the villain but only vanished/destroyed after JCVD threw one against the other.
As for the financial question, I think the temple might hold the answer. The temple might be full of gold which is what Ben/Widmore use whenever they travel off island. They need to show that temple soon!

That was the theory, one that I never share or agree upon, and it started when Sun didn't jump(as did Ben), and Charlotte's body disappeared, and it when as far as to say that Sun was Dr. Chang's baby... It was just that the show's never shown two characters (old and present self) next to each other (other than the bunnies, and even that one was sketchy seeing how afraid they were of the bunny)
... and finally there can not be any proof to support such theory anymore, so there it goes.
while blaming it on fate that Sun didn't jump is ok, a valid explanation indeed, I'm hoping for something more substantial, almost all of the 316 alive survivors are in the past (I could say all, but we won't know about Rose, Bernard and Vincent until the season finale), Sun not being there as well seems kinda odd, Locke was dead so that's his excuse

I found funny that Miles was supposed to have died last season, and instead Charlotte bit the dust 😄
Charlotte's motivation to be on Widmore's Freighter hasn't been explained, beyond the fact that she knew about the island, about Dharma, and she always wanted to comeback... now how did she knew Widmore was planning to go to that particular island... we'll have to wait for that one

I'm thinking the same thing, maybe they're sent by Eloise, she seems to have been banished from the island as well...
I think the Others are entitled to a considerable wealth outside the Island, as shown by Tom Friendly when he recluted Michael for the Freighter... Being the Leader must mean big bucks outside, after all, everything Ben has, he took from Widmore... that must also mean the money... just a thought

I agree. I came up with a crazy theory that has Eloise making a play to make Jack the leader of the Others; or maybe she's just a tool for destiny itself. She hired Ilana to get Sayid was on that plane to further make sure that Jack got back to the island, and now Ilana is working to take get Jack back to the present or some such. I even thought about this before Some Like it Hoth, because I was asking myself: why Guam? That just seems too random of a place for Sayid to be taking to. And Miles' flashbacks proved it to me, because those goons who kidnapped him where a little too nice, they seemed to just be interested to see why he was going to the island and I think that's because Eloise knew that Miles would be needed to do something in order for Jack to become the leader. Plus, we already know Eloise wanted to talk to Jack behind closed doors, that's where I think she told him about his destiny and why he needed to go back to the island, and as such, he became a man of faith.
Originally posted by Quiero MotaI don't know. I believed that at first, too, but then I thought about it and I don't recall Ben or Ilana ever giving any signs of recognition at all. I mean, that isn't tangible proof, of course, but I think if Ben did hire her, the producers would have given us some hints about it. I don't recall any at the moment, but perhaps one of you do?
I think Ben hired her. He and Locke failed, so a bounty hunter was the next best thing. And Ben's look of suprise when he saw Sayid cuffed was because he probably thought "Holy shit, he actually didn't kill her!".

Why does everyone on the show have daddy issues? With the exception of Sun and Jin, they all either hate and/or never knew their dads.
Have you seen any of the Sun and Jen Episodes. Sun absolutely hates her father to the point that she bought out his company when she finally got off the island and Jen was so ashamed of his father and what he did for a living that he lied and said he was dead rather than have him come to the wedding.

but it's not just a "her".......it's an entire group. We see her and Bram were both on 316 and are now on the island. From Mile's flashback we see Bram with other members also. This group was assembled before Widmore's crew ever went to the island, therefore they were assembled before the 06 ever left the island. Therefore they were assembled before Locke ever left the island and failed to convince anyone to come back.
mark my words, they are a secret society of some sort.......led by (in whole or part) Eloise Hawking. How did Ben find his way back to the island? Eloise Hawking told him how to get back. How did the 06 find their way back to the island? Eloise Hawking told them how to get back. How did Bram and Ilana from "shadow of the statue" society get to the island? Eloise Hawking told them how to get there. In all three cases, Ajira flight 316.
entirely possible, especially since Eloise Hawking had everyone brought to a Dharma Station. I said, in whole or part........Alvar Hanso/Degroots could easily be the other part. Hell, we don't know what happened to Ellie after '54. They mention her when Richard helps save Ben but we never see her again. She could have easily switched sides sometime in the last 30 years.

What if they are from the Dharma Initiative (the DeGroots, Hanso, the people in Ann Harbor)?this people found the Island once, and using the same method Eloise used... I could say "What lies in the shadow of the Statue" could be something Dharma found in the 10+ year they were in the Island...
We'll probably learn something in the next episode. The description on Comcast's guide is (paraphrasing): Daniel has returned and tells everything he has learned about the island. Eloise Hawking: Fionnula Flanagan
short ass synopsis for the Variable, one sentence. They then list Eloise Hawking and only Eloise Hawking for the credits underneath the synopsis.
