VERY interesting comment from GL on MTV.com

Hello all! GL quote from Movie House MTV interview:

"And you know it's pretty dark. Its pretty intense. I'm not sure this one is going to end up a PG like the other ones were."

O......MY......SNAP! That was my first reaction, but then i thought maybe he is just saying that bcause its on MTV and read by young people who would rather see a more violent movie and would think he's "cool" if its a PG-13. This has been an ongoing debate, but what do u guys think about this? Check out the interview before posting if u like.

sounds good.....i don't know if kids are into star wars so much these days...when i'm walking past the star wars section in the toy aisle it's usually pretty empty (i think they took it down completely a while back - just he big darth vader model towering above, with not star wars toys, but something else underneath)....maybe he's realised he's gonna make more cash preaching to the converted, and keeping the fans happy would keep the money flowing in after ep III, because they'll buy lots of crap even without any movies....kids will just move on to the next thing....

he's been saying this for many years....good to hear he still seems to be staying on that track....

"And you know it's pretty dark. Its pretty intense"

Sound impressive..more violence and action boys 😂

I for one am hoping we get a PG13 this time around.

side note: Mauler I like your ava

Not correct, star wars is just as big with kids as it has ever been. The toys are always some of the best selling ones out there, and the majority of the people that went to see the prequels were kids.

they don't seem to stock many anymore, and i hardly ever see any kids looking at them....when i was a kid they had to stock hundreds, like 2 aisles worth, and everyone had about a hundred of them....kids like harry potter and lord of the rings now....but whatever....

just saying maybe lucas isn't pandering to kids so much on this one....to the point where he would tone the whole movie down for them....it sure sounds like it...here's hoping....

Most of the toys are bought by collectors, trust me.....

Anyway, this being PG-13 would be fine with me, however, I'll believe it when I see it. I just have a hard time seeing Lucas put out one with different rating.
In the end, I think he'll just tone it down.....

Your right Cypher there is a massive collectors movement in star wars related toy's and merchandise right now. Personally I've never had the need to buy a 'toy' as such as an adult.....erm well apart from my AOTC Anakin lightsaber for forty quid....lol (Which was technically my other half's birthday present).
....ok..ok! So I have the moves down damn it!...lmfao 🙂)
I would love to see the demographics of how different age groups are buying star wars merchandise though.

Wayne..

i spent about $150 on the episode 2 action figures

There'll always be a kid element to the whole thing, no question. Just as long as the people who grew up with it aren't forgotten, I'm fine with it.
Anyway, that part of the equation makes me think this movie will wind-up being only PG.......

The saber toys are pretty good, as are the new Vintage OTC figures (gotta love the retro packaging).

To find out if its going to be really PG or PG-13 you have to find out if any contract has been given out that states what it has to be for GL to get paid. for example if LFL makes a film and it has a higher MPAA rating then say PG will that void a contract with Pepsi or a fast food chain? By this time there has to be someone from LFL that has already been talking to someone about sponsership. A really good source for this would be Wal-mart cause thier really family orinted and have the power to tell GL off if the movie is to violent for them to sell the toys. This is how I look at the subject.

There are still young fans of SW, myself included. Perhaps not as many as with OT but, they're still around.

I wouldn't mind if EpIII remained a PG-13 rating, I just hope GL doesn't lose some of the dark aspects of the film in an effort to do this.

Don't worry. Ep.3 will get a PG rating, but It'll still have the contentof a PG-13 movie ( since GL has the MPAA in his "intellectual" pockets, they won't go against his wishes). "Star Wars violence" is considered to be "70% less violent" than the equivalent violence in other movies, as far as the MPAA judges it. There could be 25 decapitations in Ep. 3, and it'll still be PG. No worries.

Never underestimate the politics of the mainstream film industry.

i spent 608.59$ on star wars toys

I think it will be pg-13 maybe he is just trying to make people think again till it comes out .

I hope to god it's PG 13. I think that'd make it so we can see a bit more violence, like actually seeing Anakin and the younglings rather then just a bunch of shadows.

Lucas will get paid regardless of the rating, but the sponsor thing is a good point. Just for continuity's sake, I think this film will be PG. And as far as violence, limbs and heads get removed, sure, but there's no blood and its not really gratuitous.....

Just how old are you people?

I thought SW was so kid related and yet you guys/girls sound like you are old and even old enough to have seen the first three movies.

lord of the rings is pg13 and there were still tons of toys made, and i think mcdonalds had lotr toys and whatnot. it was everywhere. i think that if it was pg13, it wouldent make much difference cuz everyone will still see it, and they can have more stuff that would make some of us happy, such as a lil bit more violent. im hoping for pg13

some of us are some guy

....good news though, the more dark the better !

after all, thats whats its all about !
