Prostitutes are, generally speaking, entirely legal; few western countries are actually puritan enough to insist that you are not allowed to get money for sex (though the taxation of it is probably a dodgier area).
What tends to be illegal is soliciting, which of course drives the whole trade underground. The argument these days is whether they should have a legal place to solicit- i.e. a brothel.

As to prostitutes, one of the oldest working professions. Do I think they should be legal? Technically sex for money is legal in controlled situations - such as brothels, and I don't mind. It doesn't effect me, the working girls are protected - their are guidelines and controls in place to protect all concerned.
Now, as to streetwalkers or whatever, well, it's their choice, but I would prefer not to see them plying there trade, and I would prefer it if that industry was also regulated - limiting diseases, violence, making sure they pay taxes, gewtting rid of pimps and all the rest. So what I'm pretty much saying is that if they want to do it, they should do it behind closed doors, so basically just work in a brothel. And out of interest, wasn't their already a long running topic about this ages ago, only without the Canadian insults?
Yes, I think it should be legalized, because the government shouldn't have any control over what people do with their own bodies sexually. I say, eliminate the pimps, make the prostitues get screened monthly for STDS and drugs, and create some brothels. It will probably go over well and it won't harm a soul.

LOL well there is an old piece your either paying for the ass or paying for the dinner but either way your still paying🙂 Sure legalize it and then make sure they get tested for STD's and AIDS and make sure they get a license and pay tax's and lol whatever just make it legal, dinners get expensive and you need to actually talk!

That's true, but there are other problems. It's not quite like many drugs being illegal, which leads to the depriving of a rational person's right to do something to their own body.
If you pay someone for sex, you enter into a contract where the sex is half of the contract. It would lead to so many silly lawsuits.

haha, well done. in Aus there are legal brothels available all over the country, i'll admit it, i've been to one. i asked, they have regular screening for STDs and HIV, condoms are used without exception and theres more chance of you getting something after the high school prom in the back of a car than The Boardroom of Top Of The Town. not to mention the woman i was with was 100,000 times more well spoken than Lady_Jade seems to be. i dont think it should be illegal to orperate a brothel (under regulations). and if you go to a street walker, well, thats your choise

Yea, but there are lawsuits everywhere you turn these days. Ever since that McDonald's lawsuit with those two girls, the whole thing has just become a joke.

Heheh. My, my, my. I wonder if the earliest creators of the various legal systems ever suspected they would be abused in such a way. Seriously, some people really need to start looking at themselves for the cause of the problems.
I don't like MacDonald's, but I doubt they hit the two girls with blowpipes, and then proceeded to inject Big Macs and thickshakes directly into their blood stream, leading them to awaken bloated and unhappy.
I assume they didn't win. Though if they did I wonder what they would be spending their money on...
