i am an atheist because nothing has convinced me that there is a god, and i believe that we are soley responsible for our actions, and can only make things happen for ourselves, not by praying or whatever religious people do. i think people just made up religion to explain what they couldnt find out before, but now that science is advancing and we can prove and disprove more and more, there are more atheists because they see this.

A better question might be why an omnipotent God bothered with the rib, instead of just making her out of nothing.
Porbably for the symbolism. I listened to a sermon about creation a long time ago and the preacher told how it stood for Jesus getting stabbed in the side with the lance on the cross or something like that. It was a long time ago and I don't really that particular sermon all that well.

oh, I see, just like with the rest of the bible........
That's the problem with contemporary society, we believe in atoms and black holes we have never seen and an evolution that we have never witnessed first hand. These are all theories with no substantial or concrete evidence that can be seen. I don't understand why we can accept these mortal concepts and refuse to acknowledge a higher power. Every culture worships something. Worship of a higher power is an innate ability in man. Not many people know this but evolution is a very racist theory but what more can you expect from something concocted by a man. Faith is the thing that is severely lacking in today's world not the foolish way we need to appease out egos by trying to prove everything with science.

maybe you didnt know, but the bible was concocted by man as well.No i didnt know that evolution was a rascist theory would oyu mind explaiing that to me?
Well Darwin said that the Anglo or European man was the most intelligent and that those of the Negroid persuasion (namely me) were at the bottom of HIS hierarchal chart of human intelligence since we had the smallest brains, according to him. And the Bible was not concocted by man, it was dictated to man by God. You should read it more often. And please, mind your spelling.

Ahh, but we DO have substantial evidence that such things exist. Not black holes, persay, but for evolution and atoms? There's plenty of substantial and concrete evidence.
And do you want to know why humans haven't witnessed evolution firsthand? Because we haven't been around long enough to see something evolve. It takes thousands of years; it's not just something that happens overnight.

I know, but its still a theory we haven't witnessed and have you ever seen or touched an atom?? I haven't and would it be such a leap of faith to believe in a higher power who we can't see or touch? I don't think so.

Oh, and you have proof of this? If so I'd love to hear it, but I doubt it'll happen. It's all well and good to take shots at science for lack of proof, but not when your life philosophy is structured on blind faith in an ancient scripture. Assuming you have complete faith in the bible. Lets not forget the 'he who lives in a glass house' metaphor. 🙄
