SMH.com.au has an update on the Superman set building:

The bronzed, theme park-rich inhabitants of the Gold Coast will be visited by Superman in more ways than one next year.

As well as a $121 million ride being built at Warner Bros Movie World in honour of the flick, some of Superman Returns will be filmed north of the Tweed.

While production of the film, starring Brandon Routh, is well underway in Sydney, a Spike mole tells us one of the sets is too big for Moore Park and will be built at Warner Bros's Queensland headquarters.

Topher Grace Denies Superman Rumors

Zap2it caught up with Topher Grace and asked him about the Superman rumors:

At a recent press conference, "That '70s Show" star Topher Grace denies that he's been approached to play Clark Kent's pal, wide-eyed Daily Planet reporter Jimmy Olsen. He also sets the record straight about another FOX star who's been rumored to be playing the Man of Steel's sassy love interest Lois Lane.

"I bumped into Mischa Barton and I said, 'Hey, are we in "Superman?'" She said, 'No. We're not,'" he jokes, referring to the "O.C." actress.

i just hope bryan singer picked a good person to play the role, there'll never be a beefed up superman lol

yeah, they are usually in good shape, but nowhere near being buffed or ripped. Its odd when you consider how strong Superman is suppose to be and how muscular he looks in the comics.

yeah, its the superman curse....never will there be an actor playing superman with a good amount of girth and the will-power to work-out

routh has the body of goofy lol, he just appeared in soap opera's before this?

Yeah its an unfortunate fact, they concentrate more on the hight than they do the build.

Routh did mostly TV guest appearances like "Will & Grace" and "Gilmore Girls"

oh god, as much as i like bryan singer i just dont know if this'll work out

and here i thought they were finally gonna take superman out of the "boyish charm" scope, just because he's a good man doesnt mean he has to be a backstreet boy or some crap

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure either.

I would actually like to see a more rugged and strong Superman than a Superman that all the teenage girls like.

that would be great, i would love to see a more rugged superman...that boyish charm crap is something i never cared for or even saw in the comic book superman, get him out of the 20's and give him a more rugged physique.....it'll never happen

I agree the boyish charm was ok maybe 20 years ago, but now its time for something different. I wouldn't mind seeing a Superman in his 30's, rugged, and alot more serious.

Superman-V
is reporting the rumor that Kate Bosworth has been cast as Lois Lane in Bryan Singer's Superman. There's some unconfirmed additional casting bits as well:

Reliable sources inform us that Kate Bosworth has won the role of Daily Planet's feisty yet incident prone reporter. After many young actresses screentested alongside Bradon Routh - with Elisha Cuthbert, Claire Danes and Keri Russell all believed to have come close it was Bosworth who Singer decided on. Kate who recently starred in Beyond The Sea now joins an impressive looking cast believed to be Shaun Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen, Spacey as Lex Luthor and Brandon Routh as Superman.

Stewart also addressed the rumor that Bryan Singer wants him to play Jor El in Superman:

I also heard these rumors, but so far Bryan did not ask me about it. I had recently a small heart surgery - nothing serious - and while I was at the hospital, Bryan called me. We spoke a long time - yet he did not ask me. But since I am already in two big franchises, why not also in a third or a fourth?

Bosworth & Spacey Confirmed for Superman!

January 6, 2005

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Kate Bosworth is in talks to play Lois Lane, and Kevin Spacey is set to play the superhero's nemesis Lex Luthor in Bryan Singer's Superman for Warner Bros. Pictures.

The comic book movie would reunite the two actors, who currently appear in Spacey's "Beyond the Sea" as Sandra Dee and Bobby Darin.

The casting of Lane was a long process that ultimately rested on a chemistry test between the actress and Brandon Routh, who is playing Superman, says the trade. Bosworth reportedly beat out the likes of Claire Danes, Linda Cardellini, and Michelle Monaghan.

Spacey, who is in rehearsals for "National Anthems" at the Old Vic, will do a limited run of "The Philadelphia Story" at the theater before moving to the Superman movie, which has a March 3 start date at Fox Studios Sydney.

Singer also told Variety that he and his writers chose a track that falls somewhere between the original film and the successful series Smallville.

"It's a little like 'X-Men,' where the mutants existed when the movie began," Singer said. "It's not an origin story; I didn't want to remake what Richard Donner did so well in the original, and didn't want to tread on the great work they're doing on 'Smallville.' He's already part of the culture; he has left the planet. This is the story of his return."

is the new movie based one pre-crisis or post crisis superman powers.

Yeah it is suppose to continue where Superman 2 left off just like you said.

I completely agree, Bosworth is no Lois Lane. I would much rather see Beckinsale in the role than her.

I don't mind...I've seen Bosworth with Black hair, and she looks good for the part...plus, we're judging on previous acting...and those characters just aren't Lois Lane, so we don't know yet if she can play it...so we should always be positive...

On another note...I'm completely excited to see Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor...I hope Singer keeps the same humor Gene Hackman provided...but I hope he adds a sort of sinister...ness to the Character...

"plus, we're judging on previous acting...and those characters just aren't Lois Lane, so we don't know yet if she can play it...so we should always be positive..."

Well Lois is looked at as fesity and independent right? That was suppose to be Kate's character in Blue Crush but (imo) she sucked as trying to pull that off.

But I agree people could try to be postive, its just hard for people like me who has seen her act and fail time after time.
Again only my opinion but Kate Bosworth shouldn't be acting and I don't think she deserves the parts that she gets.
And I don't think its fair she gets as much fame as she does just because she's linked to the hottest actor of the moment.

Does anyone know if Kate Beckinsale was even considered for Lois.
There were alot of actress that Bryan wanted that had to turn the part down because of other projects and there were even a few actress's who wanted nothing to do with the part.
Kate wasn't even a first choice and my thought is that she was a last resort.
Just my opinion though you guys.

WILL SUPERMAN BE UNSTOPPABLE OR WILL HE HAVE THAT KRIPTON EFFECT. i JUST HOPE THEY MAKE THE FILM FOR ADULTS IN MIND AND NOT KIDS BECAUSE THATS HOW i VIEWED SUPERMAN THREE AND IT SUCKED. I hope they make the film like the Xmen and Spiderman with more serious story plots. Kids will watch it anyway so I hope there are no kiddish characters!!

i hope the new film is more adult oriented and superman is more like spiderman or the Xmen. If it went the same way as superman 3 then it'd be too kiddish and thats the difference btw Marvel and DC comics. I've move on from DC to Marvel cos of that and I hope its more serious and not childish in making.
