Uh huh,you know at this point, that may be a blessing in disguise 😉
It definitely would be.
At this point I kind of feel like Logan on the subject: what Sony needs is a comparative bomb with 3, to prove to them that they've moved off in the wrong direction.
Movie 1 was so successful BECAUSE of its referencing actual comics plotlines. My understanding is that 2 did really well, but still not as much as they had hoped for; it would be interesting to know exactly WHY that was so. Could it have been because of the emphasis on romance? And romance that wasn't even from the books? I had no idea MJ and Jameson Jr. had ever MET there, much less romanced each other.
Now movie 3 is going to be focusing on Peter almost exclusively, yet somehow we'll have at least 3 villains. I don't see any way this can possibly work; plus if this series becomes even more chick-flick orientated, I do not know how Sony will hold the interest of the male part of the audience. Guys don't want to see this stuff! At least, not in that amount.... and lets face it, the audience for these films is probably at least 75% male.
That 70's Venom... good God, do us all a favor and just call the whole thing off.

Number 3 has been a jinx number for many movie sequals.I hope Spider-Man can break that curse of THREE!!!

I think SM-2 didn't make as much,is because the whole novelty of seeing Spider-Man on screen had worn off a little.SM-1 was a landmark movie because it's the first time we saw Spider-Man in a movie.A real live action movie.
So that was a pretty big deal.
SM-2 did do exceptionally well too.In the top 10 highest grossing movies ever. And I think that money 2 made, was down to Doctor Octopus.

That's what really worries me.We've got like Gwen and MJ now, along with whatever other crap is going on with Peter (and you know there will be new problems for him). Then we have at least two villains. No I'll say two villains.
It's all too crammed.Someone is gonna get shafted big time, with the screen time. And it won't be Peter or MJ.
I've seen some people wishfully think the movie will be 3 hours. It'll be 2 hours and 10 minutes maximum.
Since Gwen is in and they said she'll survive,it's likely MJ will be killed off. 😈
Also, you never know how long a movie will be,it may very well be three hours long or close to three hours long.It would be great if it was and I agree with Ock,hopefully Spider-Man 3 will break the curse of the third movie of a movie franchise being bad.

This isn't King Kong, the Godfather or the Lord of the Rings movies. It's a super hero flick.
No way will it be even close to 3 hours.Name me one super hero movie like Spider-Man,which has.
Oh god, I read this thread from start to finish when it was like 160 pages long. The last 3 pages were harder to read than the first 184.
Anyway... my attempt to get this thread back on topic.
I know alot of people are mad that the sandman is in this movie. My feelings towards this are the same as if they were to put Green Lantern into a superman movie (ok not a villian but stay with me here).
From a comic book stand point the Green Lantern generally looks pretty boring. Thanks to uncreative writers and artist most people think of green lantern as some guy who shoots green lasers from his ring and make force fields.
The fact is that the green lantern can do anything he wants with that ring so long as he has faith in it. The problem is writers and artist find it easier to just use normal stuff (mostly for JLA titles) and avoid doing cool things.
The same thing applies to the sandman. The sandman can morph himself into any shape and do anything he can think up. The problem is that writers tend to get lazy and so we get really run of the mill crap. That and the cartoons have always done a crappy job of portraying this character.
Lets face it, the posibilites are endless as to what kind of cool stuff they could do in a fight scene. Sandman can do anything he wants. Spiderman could do a flying jump kick and go right through him. Sandman can shape shift into anything, and rather than him being some cheese morphing robot thats a rip off of T2, he is all sand giving it a cool look and interesting feel.
Theres a very high potential for this character. Although I have 0 faith in Hollywood.
PS: Its 5:00AM EST and Im working a 12 hour night shift, so forgive me if some of this doesnt make sense lol.
