Looks like this movie is going to suck more or less exactly as much as I said it would.
To be the least bit fair, though, it's more than a hundred times more likely that the Sandman would have a wife than Otto Octavius, however. Flint Marko had a girlfriend before he went to prison and is also far more sociable than Octavius ever was, even though Ock can be charming for short-term schemes.
Did I mention that I'm happy with Gopher playing Venom? The next time someone says that was an acceptable decision, much less a good one, I will have no compunctions about telling them they haven't the slightest clue about the subject matter and aren't in any conceivable position to tell me anything about this movie and what it should or should not be. The wheat is now officially separate from the chaff. 🙂

But Sandman is not really evil.He's just a petty thug.
In fact,for those who read the comics know,he turned good and joined Silver Sable fighting for good and justice.
So him being a decent guy with a wife and kid,is not really so bizarre.
The only stupid thing is that it's like Ock.Ock had a wife too in SM-2.And he should NOT have been married.
I think it should be that Sandman has a girlfriend, instead. That way it won't be like a repeat of the last one. And they should have her death different, as in not an accident. They should have someone shoot her or something, and have it that Spider-Man tried to save her, but couldn't, which could lead to the Sandman blaming her death on Spider-Man. that was just a thought I had.

Yeah but see, the way I look at it, if Sandman is like he is in the comics - as you said, a petty thug who isn't evil and isn't interesting really...what's the point?
I think if they decided to play favorites and just go "I like Sandman, so does Tobey..eh the hell with the fans we'll put him in there so we can get off on it", they should make him a total badass. Go completely out in his powers and make him as powerful as he can be, and make him an evil s.o.b.
I don't like the idea of his wife being killed somehow and Sandman blaming Spider-Man for it. We've already had that for Harry and Doc Ock. I think Sandman should murder his wife, so we can really hate him and feel the threat. Otherwise he's just as threatening as a sand box - then again, Peter's acting like a 5 year old in these films so that's not too bad of a choice lol

Doc Ock didn't blame Spider-Man for his wife's death.He knew it was his own fault for not shutting down the reactor when he should.Heck he stopped Spider-Man from shutting it down,by smacking him into the wall.
The only reason Sandman has got a wife and kid in this I'm betting,is to give him a motive against Spider-Man.
I mean what else is he going to do in this?? Just go around stealing???

Sorry I didn't specify that. I didn't mean that Ock blamed Spider-Man, I meant that Harry did, but the Ock thing was in reference to the death of a wife by accident.
You're forgetting how "awesome" Sandman is...he could go around stealing and then...you guessed it...become a pile of dirt on the side of the road. Oh the action scene, I can just taste it.

Raimi seems to like giving villains who were never married in the comics,a wife in the movies.
