Dr Strange vs Thanos

The spells at Dr Strange's disposal are definitely more versatile but Thanos utilizes his abilities more efficiently. Having said that, Thanos would still be hard-pressed beating Strange coz the Doc wouldn't go into a purely physical fight against Thanos... even a higher mystic being like Odin took some time to beat down the Titan. Strange has more ways of ending the fight - teleporting Thanos or himself away, subduing with the crimson bands, etc. Strange would have to end the fight quick coz he knows how smart Thanos is. In a quick fight, Dr Strange wins. In a drawn out fight, Thanos would be more likely to win.

In Infinity Abyss #5, Strange did take out a Thanos clone with a good bit of effort, but relative ease.

Thanos is said to have upgrades that are mystical in source. But I think Thanos is to smart and cosmicly powerful for strange

how did strange beat guys like dormammu and nightmare and shumma gorath? If he has all his talismans and stuff he would win he held his own against the infinity gauntlet Thanos did not. Even then its not a bad defeat for thanos considering strange has to call upon outside forces for all his powers basically thus nothing he does is his own power but magics. Any sorceror with the right training and tools and spells can be near invincuble, ex strange used the crimson bands of cyttorak on galactus and galactus could not break them other example, strange cannot die less eternity wants him to, another one strange defeated death although i dont see anything so powerful about death since she gets humiliationed by the elders, in-betweener. He also beat a high level entity like shuma gorath.

Strange has very very good showings, and many sub-par ones. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. Yes, give him all his talismans, a boatload of prep, and a good writer and it's possible he'd win this fight. But Steve would be the first to admit that Thanos, unless the circumstances are just right and there's some one-sided prep, is out of his league. Hell, he's said the same about guys like Thor and Surfer....and probably wasn't in the wrong.

And even stuff like the Bands of Cyttorak are just containing him...it's not exactly a win, it's just delaying the fight. And they HAVE been broken out of on occasion. His other good showings (like Shuma Gorath for example) involve a lot of prep, and a bit of luck...in any case, Strange was pushed to his limit. I'd encourage anyone interested in it to check out LP's respect thread for Strange. Yeah, it's fanboy one-sided, but it has many of these fights in detail.

The thread starter specified no prep. Thus, Thanos wins this one fairly easily.

I'd have to go with Dr. Strange (despite how much I like Thanos). I mean his rogue gallery includes dormammu, mephisto, and satannish as well as others. Hell, Dr. Strange has even stood up to Death and Eternity. While I'd rank Thanos near to a skyfather, Stange is used to dealing with much higher beings, imo.
