that's not how they want him to be portrayed....
Cap losing that fight is kinda PIS. He pulls Logan in purposefully so he can yell at his face and then gets head-butted for his troubles. Then, he even says he can get his shield up in time, looks like he can, but gets caught by outside interference. Now it's hard to say Cap would've won if the fight went on any longer, but those scans don't do a good job of portraying Cap's 'defeat'.

Anyways NOONE applies it quite like cap, batman is around that level, but not wolverine.
Heres the facts Captain America is a better fighter but can he take multiple punches from Spiderman in the face and shrug them off? Never!
Wolverine has though! Cap can only hold Logan off he can't knock him out unless he sets Logan up for a chop in the back of the neck full force with his shield, but even this is kinda suspect, after all Sasquatch was beating the hell out of Logan, and he got right back up ready for more.
Cap just can't dish out the kind of punishment that it would take to fight Logan on his terms, but he can outfight Logan... technically speaking, brawling is another situation.
Way back in the fist Contest of Champions story line Wolverine ate The Black Panther up in their fight Cap is a little better than Black Panther due to the serum, but I never saw Cap handle the Panther the way Logan did. This fight is too close to call I give it 50/50.
Logan completely outclasses Captain America here. The only way the Cap could ever defeat Logan in a comic, is if there was major PIS involved. The shield that Captain posses is easily dodged by Wolverine in the first few seconds. (Wolverine is the man at dodging projectiles and has dodged bullets countless amounts of times) After that, Captain would probably get in a few goods on Logan but with his healing factor, that wouldn't cause much harm if any. (Especially since he's taken hits from Ben, Hulk, etc.) All Wolverine would need is one good swipe with his claws out and Captain America is done for. If Captain America is on the ground after a slash, Wolverine would make sure he wouldn't be coming back up. Don't get me wrong, I like Captain America a lot, but I can clearly see when someone is outmatched badly.

But Wolverine has better agility, endurance (yes, don't debate me on this one; because of his healing factor, fatigue-causing toxins get healed and don't even affect him), speed, he's got claws, a healing factor, and an indestructible skeleton. If there's gonna be any KOing, it's gonna be Wolverine slashing the hell out of Captain until he's in a coma. There's no way Captain America KO's Wolverine. Wolverine takes this fight more time than not.
