Do you think "The Day After Tomorrow" could really happen?

I watched the film "The Day After Tomorrow" today, and it kind of blew me away.
Does anyone out there really believe that the Polar Ice Caps are melting at an alarming rate, adding fresh water to sea water and changing the ocean current system?
Just curious.

there has to be something really extreme, freaky coincidence from outer space for that to happen. like a planet exploding, or the sun shrinking, or the moon getting closer.

Well, it did happen 10,000 years ago. And how many times did it happen before that, considering that the planet has been in existence for about 5 billion years. Who knows?
I've just paid more attention to the weather where I live. Except for this summer, the summers have been terribly hot and sticky, and the winters have been relatively mild.

I'm from toronto, and our summer this year has been really tame 😬
Not too hot at all, and our winter is starting really early, im already wearing scarfs and mittens, and its only october 😛

meh, unless a dick chenney look alike* makes a gravity beam, or north korea...nukes the sun or some crazy shit like that that, only then could it happen.

how do you evacuate an entire country? Can you imagine the National Guard forcing people south? Where do you start?

the south pole is melting pretty fast, the ozone layer over antarctica is thinner than it is in other places. and it probably will happen just a long while from now. definitely not now, like the movie said.
