Yea, Impel Down was pretty good.

It also had one of the better chase sections, because, one, they *didn't* catch what they were after, two, they had to fight constantly on the way alongside some badasses, and three, in addition to chasing, they were being chased.

Yeah but you like FT's pacing and that shit is down right break neck speed compared to the moderately fast Naruto, let alone One Piece. 😛

Entirely true ^^

Eh the powerups were unique but not particularly foreshadowed in any capacity. Sanji, Nami, and particularly Luffy are the worst in that regard. And while the fights are fun, they do get kinda samey since it boils down to "beat the guy, get the key, test the key, move along". Small points that could have made them interesting(Sanji vs a lady, Usopp and Zoro handcuffed) are quickly dropped to make way for the the status quo. Added onto that is that the bad guys, while having different unique abilities, primarily used a lot of the same moves as each other.

A solid point.

So was this chapter made just to confirm that Luffy won? Thought that was made clear last week but I guess not.

Confirm he's won, see the birdcage go down, and get some reactions, yea.

But we already know what Rebecca's cryface looks like. But hey the ending is pretty decent in spite of what it took to get here.

Funny thing is that the Anime will probably be even more over the top about that end result 😛

Well Sabo continues to be cool. If he really did kill Burgess I'd be impressed.

This is One Piece, I wouldn't be expecting characters to die on your average arc mmm

How much Bounty do you think the SHs will gain?

Monet died.

Well the last time Luffy beat a Shichibukai his bounty went up by 70,000. This one was also a king and a former noble. So he should be worth more. So for Luffy's I'll say 500,000 even. Can't judge the others, particularly since we don't know the status of Sanji and his half.

By the way the villains had two conventionally attractive ladies on their team. Both pulled a Heel-Face Turn to the good guys.

Are you referring to Robin as one of those ladies. I'd say Robin's made more sense considering her backstory and whatnot.

He means Viola and the weapon girl who fell in love with Chinjao Sai.

I wonder what the political backlash is. Sure, he's a fallen world noble, but he's still Of the Bloodline! And the navy was 'made' to bow!

Yeeea, that's weak. Prettiness and goodness should be unrelated!

It is also very strange cause Oda has used attractive lady villains before just fine.

I suppose it wouldn't bother me if Baby 5 and Buffalo weren't introduced together and shown as kids. Baby 5 deserves our sympathy but Buffalo? Let Kyros break his neck.

Viola should just never have been a villain. She was introduced as a bad guy then became a good guy in the same chapter.

I don't mind Baby 5 switching sides, it reminds me of Juvia from Fairy Tail. Just sad she pairing off someone other random male character. Sanji could of get some of that and there, we could of got our new member right there.

The dagger that Burgess was holding behind his back, anyone think it has magical properties like, cutting and absorbing someone Devil Fruit from the user (possible victim, Sabo)?

I'm crossing my fingers for Monet to be alive, since its weird that she left that message (paper) for chopper to rescue the children, without any follow-up.

Oh that makes more sense.

Well yeah that was pretty lame of both of them though especially since Oda hasn't had a problem having evil yet conventionally attractive women in the past: I'm ignoring Amazon Lily in this assessment.

I bet you felt compelled to say "conventionally" attractive not to catter our resident pedo posters.

Sugar is not a conventionally attractive 22 year old. uhuh

So Fujitora is making trouble for the Marines. Very interesting.

Sakazuki-The Gorousei-The Celestial Dragons is a fun dynamic. Luffy is forcing the cracks in the system. At this point he's wrecked 3 Shichibukai and aligned with another, to say nothing of his attacks on the WG directly. It all comes crumbling down~

It was fun to see how the Supernova react differently. Bonny takes pride in being in Law/Luffy's generation. Uroge doesn't care but he seems to have someone important coming to meet him. Capone sees a vacancy in the underworld and is now gunning for Caesar so hopefully a clash happens there. And the Kid/Hawkins/Apoo alliance is just happy that they're not targeting Shanks, which is an interesting choice but not unexpected since Shanks seems to have the smallest crew of the Yonko and his scars/lack of an arm could make him seem weak to others. And X-Drake, while working for Kaido, has no discernible reaction so he might end up as an X-factor in the grand scheme of things.

These chapters are what make One Piece some great Shonen.

It was nice to see a change of pace once again, after that long overdue 1 and a half year arc.

It's like after every arc, Oda never forgets to make a quick run-through of what's happening in other places, and triggering another chain of events (Fujitora bowing before King Riku, Apoo/Hawkins/Kidd going after Shanks, Kuzan allying with Blackbeard, Kaidou's eventual reaction to Doflamingo's defeat.)

Interesting that the World Nobles seem to outrank the Five of the World Government.

Hey, question: For all this talk of the 'Straw Hat/Law alliance'....

.... where the heck was Trafalgar's crew? The Starhats did 60% of the work, the gladiators 25%, and Law the rest.

I do like that aspect of things.

I believe they are in Zou. More importantly, where are the other Straw Hats?
