Luffy had a fairly even fight with Arlong.

Hey, I was just watching the Anime in the Little Garden part, and one of the giants makes a passing comment about someone leaving the island without its compass changing to the next island. Was that mentioned in the manga too?

After rereading it....kinda sorta. It felt along the same level of his fight with Kreig. When Luffy got really pissed though, Arlong was really almost one shotted. He did do more damage to Luffy than I remembered.

One can leave an island without the log pose recording it. It's just basically suicide. They had an eternal log though so it was all good. The log presumably fixed itself in Drum Island/Alabasta.

Luffy is a glutton for punishment, even frigging Hodi Jones gave him severe wounds.

I know the Log thing, I was kind of wondering if that reference could refer to a named character.

Man, can you imagine how embarrassing it would have been for the WG if Ace got away? Whitebeard's shitstorm really wouldn't have compared to the son of Gold Roger escaping the Government!

Well, the only thing I could think of would be reporting his death anyway. Mind you, this would only stir disbelief and once Ace decided to strike back for Whitebeard's death, it would be over. To the world, the son of Roger now wields the power of the Devil and holds Whitebeard as the only father he ever had.

Really the only chance they'd have would be if Ace simply didn't care about the Government and pursued Blackbeard instead.

Which makes me wonder: Marco is most likely in charge of the Whitebeard pirates now though if Ace survived, I wonder if he'd let him be in charge? He would be the more famous after all...

I think they'd simply have to announce a far more defensive stance, and/or a radical move like sending the three admirals after him to finish the job, no matter the cost.

What are you talking about? The Admirals can't pursue him. They have to be on standby if one of the Nobles gets a splinter.

I do wonder who the new admirals are. If there are any.
