Why am i against Homosexuality? because the Bible says it is a sin. not because my pastor told me to think that way, not because some old guy on tv told me to think that way, because of my faith. I believe it to be a perversion of nature. And while i am against Homosexuality, i am not and will not EVER personally attack someone because of it. I am against Marriage because i believe it to be a sacred event between a man and a woman, in that we are like Christ and the Church. This is why i am against Homosexual "Marriage". Civil union, fine, benefits, whatever, but do not try to pervert the sacred union that is Marriage. (BTW, before you call me a hypocrite, i don't believe in divorce either, except when the person doing the divorcing was cheated on.)
As for calling Republicans "hypocrites" because we are always bitching about the government being too big, then wanting the government to impose things such as ban on gay marriage and the like, there is a problem with your theory. See, people that are against big government altogether are called Libertarians. and those that don't want any government are Anarchists. Republicans want big government in the way of Order vs. Freedom, in that they are willing to give up personal freedoms to achieve security and order (which is where the Patriot Act came from). Republicans also want small government in the way of Freedom vs. Equality, in that we would rather have the government allow us to live our lives than to ensure that everyone is "equal". Democrats are the opposite of this.

You don't sound like a Republican. Republicans do favor smaller government. In recent years though, the Republican party has been taken over by the Neo-Conservatives. That is what you sound more like.
Republicans, Democrats, Greens,... we all want safety and security, its just the Neo-Cons are the only ones prepared to sell their souls for it.
