Is it just me or does the red and Blue states remain you of the crivil war?

If you think about it.It is like the north vs the south.I know it is not a war between the blue and the red/
But it is a interesting thought. Why is our country so separted like this?
This lady on tv said that she is never going to be visting any red states at all. What do you guys think of this?JM 💃

You do mean remind right? 🤨

Yes I do mean that!JM

Actually, it a flip-flop of the 1860 election. The North went Republican while the South whne Dmocratic. Ironic, isn't it?

Yes very, but the south was conservative democrat as opposed to the normally liberal democrat now.

Jacksonian Democrats 😛

Remember that the Democrats in the 1860's were very different from what they are today.

And it's not really divided north/south, more coastal/central. California, Oregon, and (I think) Washington went Kerry, the entire middle part of the country went Bush, and New England went Kerry. Dude... Oregon and California should sexed from the union...

Civil 😐

And the South shall rise again! YEEEEHAW! 😛

I wish I was in the land of Dixie.......................

Did I just say "sexed" from the union? 😮

I meant we should secede from the union...

"remain you of the crivil war"

Holy crap dude, I usually don't gripe about spelling, but at least take the time to make sure that the thread you start makes sense!!!!

That being said, the US has always been divided. I vacation down in the states occasionally and when I'm in the south I can hear people complain about the yankees and when I'm in the north people joke about the southerners.

Nothing new there.

There! I fixed the spellings in the thread - for everyone's viewing pleasure.

notworthy i bow before the almighty Milla

Are the red/republican states “The Bible Belt”?

I get really sick of folks lumping all southern states into a Bible Thumping, cousin marrying bunch of yahoos. Believe it or not, many of us are quite intelligent and do have indoor plumbing. Just because a state turns red or blue on election night is NOT indicative of the views of said state. Truth is, most people these days have mixed views on most things....there are very few hard core democrats or republicans toting the party line no matter what. That landscape is changing, thank goodness. The parties today do not look like they did 20 years ago. That said, it doesn't matter what state voted for who, what we need is (and have always needed) is bipartisanship. Until someone, anyone, in the government actually takes this to heart nothing will change. The J curve will get larger & larger & revolution will happen. Maybe not next week or next 50 years, but a society cannot continue to widen the divide between the haves & have nots without consequences. So Red or Blue....makes no difference.
