well, if you'd like to call having the NPC's damage multipled by 300%
(to the point where 1 uncharged shot from a plasma pistol rips off
80% of your shielding) a form of replay value, or challenge, then thats your choice..
if you've noticed, the layout of the two games is very different.. the
metroids for gamecube are much more story/puzzle driven..a quick
trigger finger is not needed, because the enemies are immune to
certain beamtypes/ weak to others...and I would hope the treks are a
half hour long... you're investigating a part of a planet afterall..
Then you have halo.. there are no puzzles for halo.. you see a
vehicle.. hop in it and do whatever you like (within the limited
constrains of the level..as mobs do not respawn). So basically instead
of "find this door".. its "The door in front of you is glowing.. go
through it".. obviously they do not apply to the same audience.. does
this make one lamer than the other? of course not.. at least not in
my opinion anyway..
I also happen to find that the artists at Retro Studios
have much more talent than those at Bungie
