Another movie game

Your turn, DeraiLer. Name two more movies, please.

Mr. Mom -> Enemy of the State

"Mr. Mom"-->Michael Keaton-->"Batman Returns"-->Danny DeVito-->"What's the Worst that can Happen?"-->Martin Lawrence-->"Bad Boys"-->Will Smith--"Enemy of the State"

Next: "City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold" and "Back to School".

Haha, I don't remember my connection.....

Don't have one to yours, either, I tried using IMDb once, never got even close

Okay, this thread is desperately clinging to life just like most of the ones with which I seem to get involved. Tell ya what...just to try and breathe life into it again, I'll answer my OWN post, and put up another one, in the quickly-fading hope that SOMEONE out there besides me thinks that this game (which requires more movie knowledge than a glancing familiarity with the alphabet) is worth preserving.

The puzzle was "City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold" and "Back to School".

My answer: "CitySlickers 2" --> Jack Palance --> "Shane" --> William Holden --> "The Wild Bunch" --> Warren Oates --> "Stripes" --> Bill Murray --> "Ghostbusters 2" --> Peter MacNichol --> "Bean" --> Burt Reynolds --> "Deliverance" --> Ned Beatty --> "Back to School"

That wasn't my orginal solution (which I'm sure was much shorter), but there's a solution, anyway.

Next: "Pacific Heights" and "An Innocent Man"

Well, I've never seen either of those movies, and I'm never trying ImDb for this game ever again (way too time-consuming and useless), so I'll just bump it for ya 😛

Without looking at the spoiler, and without looking at IMDB.com, my connections are: Purple Rose of Cairo>Danny Aiello>Moonstruck>Cher>Silkwood>Kurt Russell>Escape From New York.

Sorry, didn't see that there were more pages. For an answer to the *last* one, again without the aid of IMDB:

Pacific Heights --> Melanie Griffith --> Something Wild --> Ray Liotta --> Dominick and Eugene --> Tom Hulce --> Amadeus --> F. Murray Abraham --> An Innocent Man.

I *did* have to check my Golden Movie Retriever to see who was in An Innocent Man, as I couldn't remember that clunker.

I have a different trivia game I want to run past y'all. There are two films, one of which has a certain actress in it, while the second co-stars her daughter. In the first film, the actress is married to a well-known historical person. In the second film, her daughter plays a daughter of the same historical person. Name:

1) the two actresses
2) the names of the films
3) the name of the historical figure
4) the names of the two actors who portrayed the historical figure

Da man, you are my new best friend. Not only did you keep the thread alive with an actual ANSWER, but you made a positive contribution by making an EXTREMELY difficult game about which I am nonetheless enthusiastic.

Now...just spitballing here, but I'm only coming up with a few mother/daughter acting combos:

Sissy Spacek/Skyler Fisk
Goldie Hawn/Kate Hudson
Tippi Hedren/Melanie Griffith
(somebody)/Gwyneth Paltrow

I can't remember her name, but I think she played the Mother in "Meet the Parents". Anyway, with or without the IMDb, it's pert near impossible to figure this one out unless one has memorized MORE mother/daughter acting teams and a slate of historical biopics.

What I'm getting at here is...how about a tiny hint, like...what century and/or locale is the historical figure set, were the wife and/or daughter also famous, etc.

I'm excited about this game, but right now, I'm stumped. I'll try looking at other (non-IMDb) web resources for some help.

P.S. Whaddya mean "An Innocent Man" was a clunker? It had Leon, M.C. Gainey AND Todd Graf! Who could ask for more (especially when the DVD is in the $5.50 bin at Wal-Mart)?

. . . . . . . . . . . .

The wife and daughter were not particularly famous, though the wife would be known somewhat just for being the wife of this historic person. The era would be late eighteenth-early nineteenth century. And, isn't there a reason "An Innocent Man" is in the $5.50 bin at Wally World? That's, like, the old folks' home for clunkers. Although, I have to admit getting some faves of mine out of that, too, like "1941" and "Goldfinger".

I was sent an email by one of my brothers-in-law this last week. It contained an Excel file. In the file were 72 photos, each a scene from a different film, where the faces and hands of the people in the scene had been edited out, leaving only their clothes, any hats, gloves or glasses they may have been wearing, and the background. Has anyone seen anything like this? I've been able to identify 55 of the movies, but am pretty much stuck on the rest. Is there a place to post a copy of this file (without my answers, of course) for others to take a stab at it, or just to get help with the other 17 movies? Is there a better place to post this message, also?

Other mother/daughter actress combos:

Vanessa Redgrave/Natasha Richardson
Phylidda Law/Emma and Sophie Thompson
Diane Ladd/Laura Dern
Debbie Reynolds/Carrie Fisher
Connie Stevens/Joely and Tricia Leigh Fisher
(Carrie, Joely and Tricia have the same dad, Eddie Fisher)

Ol' Eddie Fisher got around, didn't he?

Yeah, I remembered Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher after I wrote the post (don't know how I could have forgotten, actually. This is Princess Leia we're talkin' about here!).

Anyway, Gwyneth Paltrow's mother is Blythe Danner (I confess--I consulted the IMDb on that one). Now then...

That file you were sent--you could, I suppose, attach the links to each pic as a .jpg or something. Or, if the contest is available online somewhere, just post that link (or is it just something your BIL came up with?). As for a better place to post that message, you could have just started a separate thread in the trivia section.

I just went over the mothers' names you gave me (I figured it was probably one of them, since you mentioned them), and not even the IMDb was any help. I'll keep trying.

My BIL was sent the email with the attached file by a co-worker. It doesn't appear to be a contest (not that I can determine, anyway). The cells in the file are password-protected, so I can't do anything with the pics, including copying them. It was obviously meant to be a self-contained thing, that the simple-minded (such as myself) couldn't fool with, other than to guess names of films, and be told 'True' or 'False'. Re: the mother-daughter question, it could be any of the ones I mentioned, or any of the ones you mentioned, or none of them. I just wanted to throw out some more red herrings.

Damn you, Salazar! Well, I still have no idea. The only late-18th-century-early-19th-century historical figure I can think of that is likely to have had more than one movie made about him starring recognizeable actors (deep breath) is Napoleon. And none of the actresses I looked up played Josephine.

Ok, don't know who Salazar is supposed to be, I'm just a lowly newbie, but how about a hint? One of the actresses is an Oscar winner. Hopefully, that will help narrow it down. Also, I didn't say that the films were about the historic figure....

Ah so! Well, thanks for the Oscar hint. That should narrow the field considerably.

"Damn you, Salazar!" is a line from "Charlie's Angels" (the movie). It is part of the contrived dialogue uttered by Matt LeBlanc's character during his movie shoot. You know, the shopworn scene in which the hero cradles his freshly-killed partner/lover while shaking his fist at the sky and cursing the drug lord/corporate giant/alien werewolves who turned his life upside down.

ok, maybe another hint is needed? The first film is a musical.
