MacGeek, calm yourself down. First you dont' believe that its been rated, then you start freaking out. You need to get outside your little box and realize that the prequels and the LOTR are not the best movies ever made. This shows your lack in taste. LOTR are definately great and I think are a huge accomplishment and some of the best movies of recent. The prequels not even close....
I don't know. But for one thing, I know that LOTR is better than the Prequel Trilogy.
What I meant was the Entire Star Wars Saga, and the LOTR Trilogy, are the only movies worth owning. And it doesn't mean that I won't buy other movies. It's just that I think those are by far the greatest movies ever filmed. I usually don't exactly mean what I say.
But about Han Solo..... well he's a great character in the OT, but with the PT, he just doesn't fit.
Star wars and LOTR are not the only movies worth owning. The Matrix trilogy is also up there. These are the three greatest movie franchises ever. I know many people were dissapointed with the two matrix sequals, but they rocked. I understand everything that happened. Whether you like to admit it or not, Matrix, Star Wars, and LOTR have changed the way moives are filmed, especailly with sfx.

Well you've gained a little more respect for now. Glad you realize that the LOTR trilogy is FAR better than the Star Wars prequels.
I definately own the Star Wars prequels and LOTR films, but aren't the greatest films ever made by far. DEFINATELY not the Star Wars prequels. I think ANH and ESB are, and that the LOTR are close, but not the prequels by ANY means.
Han Solo is a great character, and if you don't think so, you are no true Star Wars fan. Of course he doesn't fit in the PT at ALL.
And the Matrix trilogy is not great by any means. The first was definately groundbreaking fx, the second two I DO like, and have good fx, but the ending of the 3rd is horrible.
I don't think these movies have changed how fx movies are done. The original Star Wars movies did. LOTR is a great achivement in about every category. The Matrix films definately have some groundbreaking stuff, at least the first one, (thus it won the oscar beating out rightfully by far Episode 1) the 3rd one's attack of the Sentinels was a great visual scene, and the Star Wars prequels haven't really shown anything great or new as far as fx or CG. They showed that you can basically make the whole movie CG except its leading actors, but that's about it...and that doesn't mean that all of it looks good.
Yes the Extended Editions are great, and I love the LOTR series, but there are many great movies out there, just great in different ways. I believe LOTR to be some of the best new movies, but as a movie buff/critic/filmmaker who's seen about 1500 movies, I've seen many great movies, great in different ways. I have seen almost every best picture film and all but a few of the AFI's top 100 movies. But then again, I'm sure your just not a big movie fan in general as I am.
