Rock is shit where as METAL is good and Heavy 😉

As with most music, styles evolves as people have many influences and it shows through the music they compose. Old school hardcore can still be found; you just have to look for it.

I personally do love Converge, especially Jane Doe. I was rather pissed off that Integrity broke up because Humanity Is The Devil is one killer EP. Shai Hulud is just timeless; they may be over but their music will never get old. Other notables are Norma Jean and Breather Resist.

i was reading an article in the new Kerrang Australia and they recon that Terror are making some pretty damn good old school hardcore at the moment

I don't personally see the point of all these genres and sub-genres and fused sub-genre crossover whatever.

If it's good it's good, if U don't like it, then dont listen to it.

I love, E-town Conrcete, Madball, highscore and all the other class oldschool/tuffguy bands

But i also love cheesy european powermetal with swords and dragons , and I love bands like Caliban, PTW, Unearth etc (The first two more in the early days but even still) I listen to a lot of acoustic and neoclassical guitarists cos a bit of twiddle gets me going just as much as a bit of crunchy beatdown action.

Why do people have to label themselves and go into these little musical tribes and slag each other off (Something the hardcore scene is VERY guilty of is elitest attitudes). just cos u dont like it doesnt mean everyone else shouldnt as well.

Stick with what u like, but let others enjoy what they do to. If U feel like you're style is dying or getting driven out then get your arse in a band and do something about it.

Genres are here to stay. When you explain a band to a person who has not heard of them, and you want to be very accurate about it, what do you use? A genre, or at the very least, a band who sounds similar to them. Get used to it.

How can you say that? Metal IS rock, it's just been around for so long people have forgotton it's origins.

And there are tons of really great rock bands around right now, Dredg, Incubus, Radiohead, APC, Porcupine Tree, Shun etc. Really great bands.

Despite all the whiny hardcore bands today, you can still find some really great stuff. I have grown a love for hardcore music lately.

Good hardcore bands:
Norma Jean
The Chariot
Evergreen Terrace
Poison the Well
Fear Before the March of Flames
As I Lay Dying
Zao
The Agony Scene
Killswitch Engage
Unearth
It Dies Today
Living Sacrifice

Those are some favorites. There really are still some decent hardcore bands today; they're just a little harder to find.

Hopefully I have it...

Hi guys/gals! 🙂

I am one of the leaders currently supporting a campaign for an exclusive metal video channel. Our goal is to achieve an outlet for our musical heroes, where they no longer have to fight the industry to get their music out to be heard. Video made the Rock star many years ago. It can happen again if everyone pulls together. We currently now have over 300 supporters. We are 12 days into this, we are still in the infancy stages, but the progress and positive feedback has been outstanding. We need EVERYONE'S help, from the artists to the fans, if we are going to make this happen. Three artists, confirmed, have given their support for this cause. Hopefully many more will follow their lead. It takes all of 2 mins to link and sign. The rally leaders are John and I. John has worked on movements before with some success, but he and I cannot do this alone. We are in the process of contacting Record Labels, Management, Producers, Publicists, etc. The metal community MUST come together and support each other in order for this to happen.

Petition for an All Metal Channel:

Do you miss watching heavy metal videos? Did you stay awake countless hours jamming away to headbangers ball till the wee hours of the morning? Would you be willing to pay a little more to have an all metal music video channel? If you answered yes, then we could really use everyone’s support. Please click on the link below and help rally your support for an All Metal Video Channel. Currently, Vh1 has Soul, Country, Mega Hits, but there is no metal channel in the works. Our bands were deprived of their video airplay when MTV stopped playing music videos over a decade ago.

I personally blame MTV for the 90’s video crash and the fall out of the music industry. Many bands relied on this airplay and when that was stripped from them, bands could not survive. Hostility and frustrations began to soar which led to the separation of many a band. I must admit that I do have hidden hopes. I hope that an all metal channel will be the rebirth of metal music. I hope that this will encourage artists to remember the success that they once had, be able to put their personal differences aside, and give their original bands and their musical careers another shot. After all, life is too short and precious for such animosity. They had the success once before, and they can have it again.

If at the very least, I hope this will encourage our metal artists to start making music videos again. One artist quoted, “There is no sense in making a video because MTV will not play it.” (Dokken) That is unjust. Our artists must fight the music industry just to get their music out to be heard by their fans. Why should they pay a fortune to make a video that will never be played or seen? We need a place for the metal family to call their own. An All Metal Channel would be the answer. This will give our artists another opportunity in life to get their names and music back into the music industry and pursue their musical dreams.

We metal fans must come together and stick together to support these artists. We have over 30 years of metal history and it’s time our favorite groups, past and present, get the air time and recognition that they deserve. Without their fans, they have nothing. But with our help and support, we could hopefully help make their dreams come true again. 💃

36 Crazyfists (kinda nu metally)

Although none of those are hardcore bands. Hardcore is basically dead, all these bands are screamo/post-hardcore.

Killswitch Engage were a metal band back when they released one of the greatest albums ever, now they just blow.

To many pansy rock bands today

sam i love you 🙂

I respectfully disagree. Alot of those bands are Hardcore/Metalcore.

Ok so Unearth are, and possibly Zao, but apart from that, they are all post-hardcore. Calling FATA or Agony Scene hardcore is like calling nu metal bands like Korn and Sevendust thrash metal.

Fugazi, Black Flag, Minor Threat and Bad Brains, they were the original hardcore, and later on Converge, Snapcase, Hatebreed, The Dillenger Escape Plan and Willhaven. Post-hardcore & metalcore such as Norma, As I Lay Dying and Avenged Sevenfold are the new form of hardcore, but they are not true, old school hardcore rock bands like the ones I listed before.

It's not a bad thing, it's just natural progression ✅

I see where you're coming from...

Dillenger Escape Plan is psychadellic grindcore, and The Agony Scene, who i recently saw, are more modern glam rock/metal than anything.

woah psychadellic grindcore....u had me with the Grindcore, but wtf is psychadellic about DEP lol?

if nething itd be Experimental rather than Psychadellic

DEP are definitely not grindcore.

And Agony Scene glam rock?? Hah so basically that makes Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold etc all glam rock too. I don't think so. They wear makeup, big deal, doesn't make 'em glam rock.

Madball are crap
