Tho you have to admire Watterston for knowing when it was time to call it quits - rather than churning out the same old shit year after year.Plus: he's never allowed any C&H merchandising - talk about remaining true to your ethics, imagine how much he could make? I'm still hoping for a definitive hardback complete collection tho.. one to pass on through the ages.*
True story: Somebody once asked me how I'd be able to tell if I met exactly the right girl for me; and I said one of the things that would be a prerequisite would not only be that they had to like C&H, but they had to be able to answer the "Hobbes question" to my satisfaction!
Which might explain why nobody wants me...
*And inspired to go looking I find out they are releasing a $150 3 volume hardcover slip-cased complete collection of "Calvin & Hobbes" in 2005. REJOICE!
I completey agree, on all counts about Watterston and Im thrilled to hear of the new release.
Just what IS the hobbes question?
Z-man this is how I see Hobbes, he's Calvins best friend, mentor, partner in crime, bedtime buddy & confidant. Is he real or is he stuffed? While he may appear stuffed to outsiders everyone knows Hobbes is real and that he'll be with Calvin forever. Most of us have had our own personal Hobbes at some point or another. ✅
