Mortal Kombat

Oh - and why did they kill of Jonny in the first 5 min of the second movie!?!? (rhetorical, I just like saying it because I can't get past it 😛)

Ack one more thing - I was impressed with the ghostly ship and elaborate scenes back then and still am now because unlike many of the grander, more visually aesthetic scenes of modern movies, the ones in MK actually has depth and atmosphere. They weren't just there to overwhelm you at the genius of computer nerds, they had a haunting presence which coupled with the background music led for better ambience rather then being hollow and obviously artificial 🙂

* Well they couldn't get the actor from the first film to reprise his role as Johny Cage so they cast someone else and killed the character in the first 5 minutes. Although there rumors abound that the actor from the first film (Linden Ashby) will return once again as Johny in Mortal Kombat 3: Devastation.

* Very well said, I couldn't have said better myself.
Right on target. 👆

Apart from Liu Kang and Kitana, pretty much all the original cast was gone. It just goes to show the quality of the second script, lol.

No one actually cared about making a film the second time, they just figured the first made money so they could just rush in without the original cast and decent story and still make money.

and how it backfired...

It destroyed whatever potential franchise there was to be held. 🙁

👽 The first mortal kombat movie owns the ass off the second one and both the Johnny Cage V scorpian and Liu Kang V reptile fights are great. And I hope that they make the third movie if made better than the second and Christopher Lambert does not speak with a lisp.

lambert was cool imo...

i didn't like remar at all... though he could fight...

True Lambert was good...

Although neither one of them actually did any fighting since Ray Park did the fighting for Remar and Lambert hardly moved.

I might be a little crazy here, but I think we need a new Raiden in MK3, who? I don't know.

oh yeah, park did the fighting didn't he... f*ck it then... new raiden...

Yeah exactly, lol

What else has Liu Kang been in? I saw the second one the other day and I just thought it was trying to hard to be cool and introduce characters from the computer games. Which was a really bad idea coz Jax was camp, Motaro didnt look evil enough, the female goro was well ugly (even though shes supposed to be) and sindel was quite good looking considering she looked like 90 years old.
