well if he dont have his belt than he wont be Batman. Thats what makes Batman Batman.
Batman is defined beyond his utility belt. Other than the atmosphere he brings, he uses his intellect and resourcefulness to solve an issue. But a straight on fight will null some of his strategies such as the element of surprise.
Batman would kick Reed Richards As$. Reed as great a scientist as he is just isn't at all much of a warrior. He and the rest of the Fantastic Four were easily taken down by the Black Panther in their first encounter and I consider Batman to be Panther's rival. There's no way Reed would take this. The only way Richards would win is if he explained the mechanics of hyper dimensional travel in explicit detail to Bruce thereby knocking him out cold of BOREDOM.

It can go either way.

Wow, hold it right there, son. Richards is indeed a much better scientist than a streetfighter, but it would be very very wrong to underestimate him. He uses that elastic body of him almost perfectly, and can also make himself many times bigger and stronger when he wants to. Now combine that with the superior mind of Richards (just like Batman, he has a knack for spotting weaknesses), and Batman has got a good challenge waiting him.It can go either way.
I agree. Batman has a hard enough time fighting clayface..Richards essentially has the similar abilities and is infinitely smarter. There's not too much a batarang is going to do Richards body, which at one point was able to withstand a blow from Wolverine's claws without receiving any significant damage. This battle could go either way, but Richards definately has more than enough physical prowess and abilities to overcome the Bat.
Batman and Reed would probably not fight if they ever crossed paths. They would make a better team. But if they did fight Reeds lack of fighting skills would be his down fall. Reed is not going to outsmart Bats like some people think he will. And that would be his only chance. Batman will just pull out his laser he has and chop reed into little peices.

Your definately right about reed not being as good a fighter as batman, but he is an excellent strategist and tactician, possibly on par with some of the greatest in comicdom(Batman and Captain America to name a few) He's always the 1st Go to Guy during any major crisis in the MU, and is usually held in high respect by most of Marvel Heroes and Villians.
As far as the laser goes, I'm not so sure a laser would be as effective as one might think against Richards body. He's been shown to have some regenerative abilities similar to the likes of Wolverine. I do believe Batman would have to resort to some sort of gas to take him down, and even that is debateable, since I doubt his lungs are the same as that of a normal human.
One more thing...
This battle would probably be more of a battle of the wits rather than a battle of the fists. As snoop stated, Batman is a better hand to hand combatant, but the fact that Richards essentially can't be hurt by phyical means acts as an equalizer to this advantage, nullifying any edge Batman might have from a fist fight perspective.
The one edge I can see Batman having over Richard's is that he puts his heart into his battles, and I believe he has a much more willpower and determination. So to simply put it Batman at heart is a fighter, while Richards is not.
