I am actually excited. I make a lot of money, and I am helping to end the war sooner. And with me, it is better me... a single man with little to lose then a man with a family. A wife, children, and all that jazz.

Holy crap.
I am not going to die.
What I did today.
Since I am what is known as a 74D, Chemical Operations Specialist, I am required to know how to decontiminate personelle, equipment, vehicles, etc.
Today I spent 2-3 hours in our Military Operational Pretective Posture (MOPP) gear. It is the chemical-protective gear we wear, which includes a jacket, pants, gloves, boots, and a mask. It adds about 10 degrees to the temperature and makes the Missouri weather (which is hot and humid) seem 10 times worse then it is.
It sucked.
Another update in the life of yours truly.
I have a few hurdles to clear before my training is complete. I have just finished the phase 5 (Army Standard) Army Physical Fitness Test. Or as we in the Army call it, since we short form everything, the APFT. We have to:
a) Do as many push-ups as we can in 2 miutes.
b) Do as many sit-ups as we can in 2 minutes.
c) Run 2 miles as fast as we can.
The Army minimum for males age 17-21 is 42 push-ups, 63 sit-ups and 15:48 for the run. I did 69 push-ups, 85 sit-ups and ran 2 miles in 14:05. I know my run is garbage but I am fairly proud of myself.
The only things I have left is to spend 5 days in a Field Training environment, and then turn in all the gear I was issued and I am done. 17 days and a wake-up and I am off to Fort Hood, Texas.
