A bit outdated, but:
Many times they moonlight and are wearing uniforms outisde the regulations of their own division.

Again, this link illustrates that the officers are operating outside the regulations of their divisions.

Betts said troopers are prohibited from working at businesses where alcohol is the primary means of business.
kind of screwed the pooch with that link.
And I couldn't get the first one to open. I don't think my laptop supports it.
"Under the department’s policy, officers are prohibited from working as a private investigator or as a bouncer, or from directly selling alcohol.
Maryland State Police troopers may use assigned vehicles for off-duty work, but are prohibited from wearing uniforms, according to spokesman Sgt. Arthur Betts"
So, if they can't wear uniforms and they can't work as a bouncer, why exactly would a bar or club pay the extra money for a cop to just check ID's when they could pay the local drunkard in beer?

They can not, but do. That's what I said. Kind of like how the government says I can't smoke pot, but I do.
Originally posted by Devil Kingyou know, there is always the chance that maybe the laws in NC are different than in the states from the articles.

I am assuming you are from NC, due to that ID you posted.

Wait, RJ might be right... I found a story were Dallas Police are cracking down on illegal latino bouncers. The cops must fear the lost of extra income.

I was using your home state, or former home state, as a tool to point out that laws vary state to state.
We aren't talking about laws. We're talking about the regulations of a police department. Regulations which your own links state exist, and prove that you are in error. I have already said that I too have seen police outside clubs. But they are not allowed to work for the club while in uniform. If they are, then they are ignoring the restrictions of their employment with the police department.
