My fella's dad got ID'd when we were over in Florida in November because he looked younger than 40. He was trying to buy a bottle of vodka for me and a crate of beer. Obviously he was flattered, if a little bemused. Apparently there's also an age restriction for buying mass amounts of alcohol, although why 40 was chosen I have no clue.

So by that theory, RJ could very well have been ID'd recently.

Edit: Unless I haven't read up properly and it wasn't for alcohol, in which case he's lying ermm

I am ID'd all the time, it's nothing new to me.

I think the premise was that he was ID'd because he looked like he could have been under 21. Oh, and being ID'd by armed and uniformed police, moonlighting as ID checkers at the local bar in order to make the "big bucks".

Hehehe.

It isn't particularly big bucks.

It's also a complete load of bollocks, either they were lying to you, or you're talking shit.

I was the one responsible for payroll at my old job where we had Sheriffs deputies working, and I can tell you that it is NOT "bollocks." It is FACT.

It might be....

.....if they pull a 40hr week or something. But if its moonlighting for a few hours a night then not so much.

I get £15 an hour for teaching guitar, (30 bucks perhour) and I dont have to risk bullets or knives to do it. So why would these guys who face that risk already each day...?

If you are getting ID'd so regularly and its definitley agreed here that its not for you being under 21, then what is it that you do that gets you so much attention from Law Enforcement...?

the ones I know work 20 to 30 hours a week extra jobs.

so, 35 an hour times 30= 1050 USD a week, thats 4200 USD a week, thats 54600 USD a week.....

sure, thats chump change.

So while they earn that, who is doing their regular job..?

I understand 1050. And I understand 4200. But how did you get the 54600?

their....relief.

Ex...cel...lent.

And who pays the relief as well as the absent officer?

So, why not then, join your local force, inform them that you can't actually "work" for them and go out bouncing instead for a full week 39 hr week and collect both cheques, because you make it seem that the dept will actually pay employees for working elsewhere where you're from...? Sounds ideal.

😖hifty:

simply.

30*35*4=4200

54600/4200=13 months (supposedly...but there is an error in assuming that.)

a better calculation would have been 30(hours a week worked)*35(rate per hour)*52(number of weeks in a year)=54600 ....ergo, our answer.

😄

RJ is smarter than you give him credit for.

And you have still to explain why a bar woulld bar would hire a cop for the "big bucks", just to check ID's, when they could hire someone else to do the same job for less?

Cops in my area start at around $75k a year, a bit over $35.00 an hour. What is it in yours?

You also said that the $35.00 was for the Sheriff's, who were specifically on private-patrol because of a robbery threat, the hazard-pay like conditions of hat could explain the "big bucks" in that scenario, but to check ID's?

You live in California, right?

He lives in Houston. I could assume that the standard of living is not as high. Houston is a big city but I don't think it is as expensive as say.......San Jose or L.A.

I realize they make less an hour there than here, since they're working 20-30 extra hours a week at $35.00 an hour. Hence the question, as I'm curious what their police wages are.

Nope. It has been proven over and over that cops can and do legally wear their uniforms while working extra jobs. Read the links and see for yourself.
