"Spider Baby" is a 1964 cult classic directed by Jack Hill, starring Lon Chaney in one of his last roles, as Bruno the caretaker.
It's about how Bruno watches over the Merrye family who have been afflicted with a disease, the Merrye disease, that causes their mental state to regress the older they get. So, Elizabeth (Spider Baby) and Virginia are about 17, but act 8 or there about. Sid Haig, you know him as Captain Spaulding from "House of 1,000 Corpses" is Ralph, who is literally a 6' tall infant. He can't even form words, lol.
Long and short of it is, the estate is being seized by the government, and is going to their next of kin, who are "normal". Bruno has to do his best to cover up the whole family disease issue, which was not a disease, but a result of inbreeding, lol. Chaos insues once they get to the mansion and meet the kids, who also just happen to be a cannibalistic, sexually deprived people!
It's soooooo much fun, and so few people have heard of it. It's the epitome of a cult classic.
Well, alternate reasoning for getting "IKWYDLS" is that my girl likes the movie too, and there are so few films we can watch together, much less ones that we can multiples times when we're bored, $4.99 and some hazing from my mates on KMC is worth it.
Why "Braindead" on VHS? DVD hard to find or is he just a cheap bastard?
I own Kung Fu Hustle! WOO!!!
Thats right! Eat it! My friend downloaded the DVD (100% quality) and burned me a copy. A group of about 10 of us watched it for the first time on a big screen TV in our school's cinema room. It is awesome. Freakin hillarious and the fights are like a mix of Hero and Matrix Reloaded. The comedy was my favorite parts though. I have been screaming since I heard my friend got it and now I have been screaming since he gave me the DVD about 10 minutes ago right after finishing. YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
she. and this is how it went down:
i rented Raw Deal and Braindead about 5 months ago from the video place in town, liked them both, then lent them to kelly. she liked them, then lost them. well didnt lose them, she knows where they are, just never got around to taking them back. the bill for them was up to $56. to just buy them was $70. so she buys them and gives them to me for having to put up with the shitheads who work in the shop harrasing me weekly. true story😉
Well, I believe it. Video stores actually paid insane amounts for VHS tapes, even here in the States, when they'd first debut. I had a similar situation happen to me with "Sleepy Hollow" and "Beyond the Mat" a few years back. They wanted close to $100 for them, I eventually found and returned them. Worse case scenario, they sell them to me at PVM price, which was never offered.
