What's the title of this quite recent sci-fi comedy?
The movie I'm thinking of is quite recent (probably from the '90s) and most of you will probably know at an instant what it's called. I'm hopeless when it comes to remembering names of actors etc., so here comes a description of the story instead.
Some fungus-like alien life-form is growing rapidly at the bottom of some kind of cave. Some army guys and some scientists gather around the place, but loose control of the situation as the life-form evolves. It seems to imitate earth evolution, but proceeds must faster! After a while, there are a lot of aliens, looking like anything from fungus to big birds. The army tries to exterminate the aliens by fire, but fire only makes the life-form evolve and multiply quicker! The army keeps trying anyway and eventually makes the alien grow into one large ugly giant monster hovering in the sky. Meanwhile, scientists at a university conclude that the alien life-form must be silica-based (as opposed to carbon-based earth life). Consequently, the only means of destroying it, is by using zinc (or was it selenium?), found in ordinary dandruff shampoo. All the students of the university collect as many dandruff shampoo bottles as they can and squeeze the contents into a big container (or something). Then, a group of heroes courageously get to the rectum of the monster and inject the liquid chemicals therein.
What movie is it?
