Sexy Beast (2001)
Holy shit, I thought it was great. British gangster film. 5/5 from me. Definitely check it out if you've never seen it. I thought it was pretty superb in every respect. Stars Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley. I wish someone had told me about it before, but I just kind of stumbled upon it because the director has a new movie coming out with Scarlett Johansson.

I honestly think that's why all the negative back-lash Kingsley's Mandarin portrayal got because audiences were expecting a similar performance from Sexy Beast.
It wasn't so much that, it was more because the Mandarin that they decided to use wasn't like the comic book couterpart and they treated it as joke.

I doubt there is much overlap in the audience for Sexy Beast and the audience for Iron Man 3. Sexy Beast has 37,500 ratings on RT and Iron Man 3 has 464,700. Plus you couldn't have the Mandarin cursing up a storm in a relatively family-friendly movie like Iron Man 3. (I know nothing of the comic, though, so I can't comment on the accuracy to the source material.)
