Papa, come home. Read to me goosebumps so I can feel safe.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)

I can see how it made an impact, but it's pretty terrible. 👇

Hostel (2005)

Back to back. Also pretty terrible. Something about Eli Roth's style feels really generic and bad to me. I think maybe because he is constantly shifting tones.

It Follows (2014) 5/10

Bought the film given the hype factor surrounding the concept of the It creature, and should've saved myself the 7 dollars I paid for the bluray. The concept is about a girl who sleeps with a Sexual transmitted spirit, and then has to lose the spirit via plotting with her friends or sleeping with them. The creature appears only to the person, yet can be harmed and shows manifestations of its acts like when it lifts the lady's hair or breaks a door. The thing literally just walks around, and the girl drives around aimlessly to evade it. This happens for most of the film and gets old really fast. Maika Monroe is a good actress, but the plot for the film is pretentious and goes all over the place.

No thanks to this film, but I really enjoyed the synth/electronic music in the soundtrack!

^ Thanks for the heads up, I was actually gonna try to see that soon. I had heard good things, too. That does sound kind of dumb. Maybe I'll skip it afterall.

Eyes Wide Shut
2001: A Space Odyssey

TV: Channel Zero

Pride & Prejuduce & Zombies.

Quite fun.

👆 I've been meaning to watch Eyes Wide Shut again, but I've wanted to get a copy of the unedited version, so I've been putting it off for a long time.

Unbroken (2014)

Very good. Very similar to Hacksaw Ridge, actually. Another true story about a WWII survivor. Hacksaw Ridge is a much more powerful film to me, but Unbroken is very good, too.

Oh, and Gravity again, but I fell asleep during most of the third act. That film is beautifully filmed and is an extraordinary piece of filmmaking, but some of the cliches and tropes get on my nerves too much, especially since they were at the expense of scientific accuracy.

Cooties.

Not nearly as bad as i'd expected. I would have preferred a different ending, but fun throughout.

Bug (2006)

Ashley Judd, Harry Connick Jr., and Michael Shannon. Actually a surprisingly good little drama/horror. It's sort of a stage production put on film and is nicely done. Gets a little over the top at the end, but very engaging direction and well acted. Recommended.

National Treasure (2004)

Nic Cage greatness. 👆

👆

Independence Day sequel. It was just OK.

Heh yeah Gravity & The Martian always gave me the impression that there's no need to panic if you're stranded in space or on a planet...it's so easy to survive & get back to Earth!

Well in the Martian he 'scienced' his way to safety!
