[B]The Cable Guy (1996)I had never seen it. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't entertained. A fun nostalgia trip. And I recognized a lot of background faces in it. David Cross, Bob Odenkirk, Jack Black, Janeane Garofalo, Andy Dick, David Bowe, Kyle Gass, etc. I didn't know Ben Stiller directed it. I certainly wouldn't consider it successful as a comedy, but it was somewhat entertaining as a thriller/drama. Jim Carrey was probably a little TOO over-the-top for it to be taken very seriously, though.

This (along w. Shrek) is another movie I just can’t really picture Chris Farley starring in. It would’ve changed the whole tempo.

MIB INTERNATIONALGood movie; really holds up on a second viewing.

Hm.. maybe I should give that another chance. The first time it just annoyed me as another mediocre Hollywood reboot.

^^^It was def. better than mediocre!
You want mediocre, you watch MiB2. You want annoyance you watch that ****ing pug walking around in a suit!
What's weird is that some of that campiness of the originals is part of the charm. Not taking itself so seriously was very endearing. Plus the dynamic chemistry between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones was so good. The actors in International are good actors, they just don't necessarily have that comedic chemistry.
And Vincent D'Onofrio's performance in the first one remains truly classic.
Lightyear (2022)
My son asked to see it, and since i was so proud of him swimming the other day, I treated him with a trip to the theater to see it (he's 5). He loved it and I loved watching it with him. 🙂 😄
Also: Did the lesbian couple in the movie trigger conservatives and that's why it flopped so badly?
Men In Black International (2019)
Alright so I gave it another chance. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep during it before, heh. 'Cause I didn't remember any of that part with Rebecca Ferguson. I had a little more fun with it than I remembered, but it's still kind of a generic, corporate reboot. Oddly enough I don't think Chris Hemsworth and Liam Neeson were great casting. They're too... normal. And as long as you're spending that much money on casting, why not have Will Smith back at least in some capacity?

Like I said, the pug was ****ing stupid, the K getting his memory back stuff was needlessly complicated and time consuming, there was NO chemistry between Smith and Dawson, the bad guys were lame….
In contrast MiB 3 was pretty ****ing good across the board.
MiB International I think gave us good chemistry/story, kick ass villains and high stakes along w. some funny shit that didn’t feel forced in the way MiB 2 did.

Men In Black III (2012)
I re-watched and enjoyed. And now I see better why MIB International is lame. III is actually pretty good, some funny moments, Will Smith charisma, fun character acting, and an emotional punch at the end. Josh Brolin is pretty hilarious doing his Tommy Lee Jones impression.
International is very meh. Just not the same vibe and the change in director is likely a big part of that. 👇

^^^HELL YEAH it was!
He made me laugh while still managing to be creepy/scary.
Alright. I re-watched Men in Black II. You are not wrong... haha. It does not hold up very well at all. I still have a little nostalgia associated with it, but yeah, it's definitely not very good. The effects don't hold up well. Johnny Knoxville's 2nd head for example... it might even be worse than International.. heh.
I might try to re-watch the original MiB if I get a chance. I haven't seen it all the way through in many, many years.

You talking about Brolin reminded me though; this may be before your time but in ‘99 Rob Lowe got a lot of praise (and I totally agreed w. it) for channeling Robert Wagner…
…as Number 2 in the Austin Powers sequel!
Both these guys went the extra mile when they could’ve just played themselves doing the parts.
Depraved (2019)
It's a very small, indie film, but actually quite nice. Horror/drama/thriller, kind of a modern Frankenstein. I think I was expected a faster paced horror film and it's not really, but I still liked it. Maybe a little too slow moving in the middle, but sometimes it's good to let things sink in.
Skyfire (2019)
Now this was a fun, over-the-top action cheesefest! From director Simon West. It's one of those dual Hollywood/Chinese films. Move over, Dantes Peak! A new volcano epic is in town. Some killer set pieces and special effects. It's kind of Jurassic World but with a huge volcano instead of dinosaurs. Roland Emmerich should take notes that you don't necessarily have to destroy the entire world for a fun disaster romp.
The Emperors new clothes (1987)
9/10
Hilarious. Thieves pretend to fashion designers because the emperor doesn't like to wear the same clothes twice. They tell the emperor that to make the new clothes they will need jewels, lots and lots of jewels. Then they tell him that the new fabric is invisible to anyone who is stupid dumb and slow. The emperor sends 2 of his closest advisers to take a peek at the fabric, but when they go see it they are surprised they dont see anything so they naturally assume they are dumb. To preserve their jobs they tell the emperor the fabric is the most beautiful fabric in the world. And on the day of his daughters engagement, he wears nothing. Everyone is shocked that he is naked but no one says a word until a brave little girl screams out -----!

I have the kids story. I've read it to my kids several times. I need to find it and read it to them now that they are a little older.
