Knock at the Cabin

^^^Did you like it?

AIRFORCE ONE

Still holds up. Ford makes for a good action President.

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN

GOD that was a chore to get through.

Exorcist the believers. 10/10

If this was a sequel to the exorcist franchise this movie would be legit. So good. It even had the mother and Reagan come back, brilliant!

It didn't have all the supernatural tricks that the original had but it included a few of the same elements. Very well acted, very well done. Very realistic.

Cocaine Bear

Beau Is Afraid (2023)

7-8/10

Middle act got a little too artsy fartsy, but I can get not cutting it because it was a little trippy given the narrative. Other than that it's a very solid film.

Somehow I ended up watching 2 chick flicks in a row and they were MY PICKS! My wife was certainly happy. Fortunately they were both pretty good...

Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

8-9/10

Her (2013)

8-9/10

It's about a guy who is gay because he turns down Olivia Wilde and another hot blonde, Portia Doubleday, in the same film.

Prince of Darkness (1987)

Damn, I wanted to like this so much given the premise, but sadly I found it a bit too nonsensical and the dialogue was so goofy I couldn't enjoy it. It landed in the so bad it's good category. A few trippy make-up and effects sequences, though...

4-5/10

Ghost Rider. Rewatch. It was okay

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES MUTANT MAYHEM

Okay I’m posting this in the last movie you saw thread so if it winds up in the Toxic Avenger thread, it’s a glitch.

I liked it.
Jackie Chan was hella funny.
The story was simple but entertaining. The humor stuck the landing. I’d be up for a sequel.

^^^I've seen both of these. I liked HER best but neither sucked!

Oddly enough the mustache actually kind of works for Joaquin Phoenix. Maybe because it covers up his cleft lip scar or whatever it is? Though he's sort of owned that, so it's kind of his trademark. But anyway, yeah, it's a good movie.

I guess I'm on a bit of a Joaquin Phoenix kick, preparing for Napoleon later this year.

Re-Animator (1985)

It's pretty good. It certainly gets a little over-the-top in the third act, but a fun premise. A movie I've been meaning to watch for a long time. Finally got around to it.

6-7/10

^^^Yeah the stache actually worked for him which I wouldn’t have bet on!

You’re right too, he does own the cleft scar.
Another actor w. a cleft scar in pretty much the exact same spot is Stacy Keach. Of course he’s mostly covered it w. a stache his whole career, but it’s a pretty iconic stache!

The Church (1989)

It's alright. I think overall I'd give it a 6/10. Not terrible and not great.

Beetlejuice (1988)

Showed it to the kids and I really enjoyed watching it again. I can't wait for the new one featuring Willem Dafoe!! 😄

^^^I didn’t know Willem Dafoe was gonna be in BJ2!

Google says he’s gonna be a ghost cop? Awesome!

I need it in my life NOW.

I've been saying for years that it was a shame there was never anymore exploration of Michael Keaton's Beetlejuice. Such a hilarious and fun character.

I’m kind of glad it’s taken this long to go back to this.
Better than a quick cash grab sequel two years out.

The movie and Keaton have achieved a legendary status at this point, and nerd culture is at its peak so, chances are those involved will actually put the effort in to make something good.
