good point.....perhaps sense would be more suitable. whatever i used last time and worked..

Well, before you used your force powers to find a place with a suitable atmosphere for the kind of person you wanted to get generic info from.

Now you are being specific. What you need to do is indetify precisely the info you want, outline what person you think it would be best to get that info from, and how you want to use your powers to help you find such a person.

For example, if you wanted to identify which of a gang of five thugs was the ringleader, you would use Empathy to see which one was feared and obeyed by the others. I suepect you are after something of a better class and of more use than thugs, so your search will likewise have to be more sophisiticated- especially as this is an area where Savoir-Faire is very useful.

Rah looks around for another contest of somesort that will enable him to get to the upper levels, if it means fighting another match then thats what he'll do

Well, there's the gunslinging machine Tanic has been wrangling about. None of you have the Gambling skill, sadly, because that's a way to make a rep (especially because you guys have this uncanny knack of knowing if someone is bluffing at cards). There are other ways to get into the good books of the Lantarnans, but contest-wise, those are the only two you have seen, unless you have any other ideas?

Ush, is this machine really worth my time? Because I really am confused by it, and I just wanted to know if you reckon I could be doing potentially (gameplay-wise) more fun things.

The gun fighting machine is entirely beatable else it wouldn't be there, but don't ruin your game bashing your head against a brick wall- feel free to move on, help others, try other things etc.

Bear in mind you CAN beat it by rolling well, but you would have to be damn lucky. It's not cheating and you can't 'trick' it; you just have to maximise yoyr chances.

Galder has an idea!

If he can manage to Throw the Champ again, he wants to keep a hold on the chain and use it to strangle the Champ while he is down.

Galder will dodge the incoming Hard Strike.

(light bulb goes on above Galder)

Champ rolls -1; a miss!

Galder jerks the chain about and uses all his strength to Throw the Champ down...

He dodges, and you roll +2... with impairment that's not enough...

... but you can, again, spend a force point to get +2 to that roll.

Galder will spend that Force point.

It looks like you aren't going to throw him successfully- there is just too much bulk to him!

"Don't live in mediocrity all your life, Galder."

... and then suddenly, in a surge of anger, you have thrown him down to the ground, the chain wrapped awkwardly around him...

With a malicious grin, Galder leaps upon the Champ, seizing the chain again and wrapped it around the Champ's neck while he struggles to rise, pulling it taught.

This isn't going to be as easy as you want. His throat is armoured like the rest of his body, and he is still fighting, finishing the sequence with another Hard Strike at you.

"Damn you!" Galder curses. "Why won't you just die!"

Galder will dodge that attack, and continue to attempt strangling the Champ...

Rand will try to make the Grip harder, to give it a better effect.

(Rah, do not leave your post! You need to keep Mika occupied!)

I need some help maximising my chances by somebody who knows the rules!

What you should do first, Trick, is work out how your 26 skill is calculated. It's actually very simple and I gave you the constituents.

-

-3, a miss, Galder! New sequence starts, and what with the chain and the strangulation, you still have to fight on but you now get +2 to all your rolls.

The crowd is roaring with enormous approval...

(That'll negate my damage, won't it?)

Galder will Hard Strike into the face of the Champ.

So, presumably I can get a 30 - I just need to find a way of making sure I do.

My gun skill added with my dexterity is 20. So presumably I've somehow added five, and I can increase that...

I don't know how though.

Am I along the right lines?
