I know one reason the OT would be better then the PT is the PT has so much political involvements and it's like, I see this stuff on the news everyday I don't need it in the star wars movies, I want more action and more fun stuff to watch, less discussing more action. I know in a way they have to have political stuff in the PT but it can be boring.
Nobody ever dies except for Ben, (In PT theres Qui-Gon, Anakin's Mom, Tons of Jedi, Tons of Naboo people etc) Theres no deep emotions, (In PT Anakin and Padme falling in love, anakin's mom dying etc) Everything is happy go lucky. A group of heros that succed at everything.
I'd like to see someone dying. I'd like to see something tragic happen? Hello? Anyone home? Maybe something bad can happen in the OT? Like in other words something that this group of invincible heros CANT Defeat?
Maybe because most of the characters ARE dead? FFS!
And what are you? Some sort of sadist? Countless deaths don't make a good movie. What the hell is the matter with you? And have you even seen a Star Wars space battle? Barely any of the squad comes back alive. Ignorant fool.
No deep emotions? You telling me Vaders revelation to Luke, Leia and Hans romance and Hans incarceration in carbonite aren't emotional?
Landos betrayal of Han.
Yodas emotional death.
Vaders tragic death.
Vader toying with Lukes emotions.
Chewbacca being separated from Han.
Han and Leias romance.
Hans carbonite freezing.
Obi-Wans death.
Owen and Berus death.
Vaders revelation (which I might add contains arguably the most famous movie line OF ALL TIME)
THE ENTIRE POPULATION OF ALDERAAN IS BLOWN TO BITS.
Since when is ANY of the PT stuff more emotional than that? From where I stand, characters just, die. Qui-Gons (and likely Mace's) death and Anakins Tusken Slaughter are the only things that even come close to the emotion that the OT scenes had.
Have you even SEEN the originals? Put on your clown shoes and get a steppin'. You know of nothing of what ye speak.
You ain't for real dude, surely thousands of years of evolution - and THIS is what the human race comes up with? I have severe doubts over the future of our species with Captain Tasteless over here at the helm.
Red Superfly you continue to take the words right out of my mouth...saves me the trouble to argue with such people. Make me sick. Not only has he progressed from liking the PT more, but now he's basically slamming the OT and saying they are bad. The love scenes in AOTC are horrible, horrible, horrible and flat. Star Wars is not a soap opera. The OT were meant to be adventorous. And the point isnt about deaths either. Anybody got any stones around? I think we need to pull a Jay and Silent Bob here.
I never said the OT was bad. When your dealing with movies that are 100% better than all the other movies out there, the difference i'm talking about is inside that 100%. Lets compare the OT to anything but LOTR, and you'll find me ranting and raving about it.
It's just that when the director takes the same name, and improves it slightly, and makes a story line that I think is more interesting (anakin turning dark, a sith lord succeding in his plan etc), I talk about how much worse the OT is. They are both up there beyond belief.
