Wicca is a recently created, Neopagan religion. Many Wiccans see their religion as a modern reconstruction of ancient Northern European Pagan beliefs such as the Celts and Druids. Depending on ones beliefs wicca can be viewed as monotheistic recognizing a single supreme being, "The One", duotheistic where they may recognize a female god and goddess the Lady and the Lord, polytheistic in which they recognize the existence of many gods and goddesses, or atheist where they do not recognize living entities but symbols rather than a god or goddess. Wicca is not affiliated with Satanic beliefs. Wiccans do not recognize the existence of an all evil anti God. Wicca can be called an earth based religion in that they practice rituals to attune themselves with nature and the phases of the moon as it passes between the sun and earth. Wiccans seek to live in harmony with nature.
Many Wiccans adhere to the Three Fold Law which is also known as the Law of Cause and Effect which states in life what we reap we sow what is done shall be returned back three fold.
The Wiccan Pentacle is thought to be one of the most important symbols of the religion. It is an ancient symbol bearing much importance to both the East and the West. The pentacle is a five pointed star which clearly defines our place in the universe and life. When the image is drawn or written it is called a pentagram. Many witches and wiccans will wear this on their jewelry or clothing the way many Christians will wear a cross. Traditionally each of the five metaphysical elements of the ancients: Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Spirit. The Circle often drawn around it represents Divine Wisdom given to the wearer. It is recognized throughout the world. In the Jewish tradition for instance, it symbolizes the five books of Moses.
