Battlestar Galactica

this was a very good series finale..

I concur, my friend, I concur.

I had reservations going in but was I surprised. It was an excellent finale. The way they played the temple vision from seasons ago was brilliant. I was surprised everything was happening pretty fast. That scene between Athena and Boomer was golden. She f***ed her up! The scene between Tyrol and Tory was long overdue. I liked how he was like "What the hell biatch?!!, U dead", awesome. I wanted Adama to put a bullet between Cavils eyes but it worked out perfectly. Kara's song/visions also were integrated very well. I didnt see it coming but as soon as she starte entering numbers, I knew. However, I wasnt expecting the time period they landed on. The only thing I didnt like was the thing I was looking forward the most, Kara's death explanation. There was none.

Overall, I think it made up for some of the bad episodes. It was one of the best finales ever.

Anyone looking forward to the Caprica series/mini and BSG: The Plan movie? I am.

I thought it was pretty good, but, seriously, no explanation for Starbuck's death? What the hell?

I thought the finale had a few nice twists. The last scene especially. I thought the entire series had a nice balance of political and spiritual views also. I wish it didn't end though. 🙁

The explanation seemed to be that she died on "earth", and somehow was an 'angel' after that point leading them to the new, real Earth-as-named-by-Adama and Rosslin..

I like that Moore stopped short of affiliating her to any god/gods:
"You know it doesn't like being called that."
Man I really thought that was gonna be a time travel piece. But nope.

The rock song references were positively abound: "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". Poor Galactica...!!! (And the rest of the fleet!)

The assault on the cylon colony made 'the Adama manuever' on New Caprica look like a banal and perfectly routine parking manuever.
Unbelievably good action.

Great macrostory arc resolutions and great personal arc conclusions too. Gonna have to watch it aging now to assimilate the coolness.

Now we know why the last couple of episodes were light on FX budget: Four episodes worth was in the first 40 mins of this alone lolz.

Loved the little touches too like the museum Baseship and Centurion, the score going old school near the end..... a true conclusion for the fans.

Nice to see Ronald Moore's cameo at the newsstand at the end too... A god among men in TV making.
After Alien Nation and this, If he ever teamed up with the makers of LOST on anything, I might actually die of awesome.

WHAT a ride this was. 😄

my feeling is that either we can use are own interpretations or they will explain in BSG: The Plan..

Til that time, I think its more likely that Starbuck was a lord of Kobol.

Good sci-fi is never forced to cop out with "God did it".

That was what ruined the Quantum Leap finale.

I agree

Hey whoa whoa whoa back up thyere- the Quantum Leap finaler was awesome and in no way says God did it- that was Sam's conclusion and merely reflected his iown beliefs from day one. The person Sam thought was God clearly told Sam that he himself was responsbile for his leaping.

Which amounted to the same thing moreorless, regarding lazy writing.

Why else wouldn't he have leapt home when that was all he wanted to do throughout the series...? IE the thing that motivated his solving stuff: the desire to leap home...
The finale reeked of bullshit in lieu of decent exposition..

The fact that there was a "God" character with all the answers immediately in the minds of the viewer implies that he is as some point goverened by a god.

(Unless you interpret it as a big dream in which his own subconcious was the "god" in question or something.)

I haven't seen it for years, granted, but thats at least what made it suck for me, at least, back in the original run..

Anyway, what did you think of the BSG finale..?

Lazy writing? You have to be freaking kidding me- it was EXACTLY the point that the series was building up to from the start, and a much, MUCH better expanation than "Time or Fate or God or whatever."

Sam was simply getting the answers he deserved, but they left vast amounts of mystery running about the situation. One of the finest finales ever made. Sam never returned home because he never really wanted to- that was the lesson of it and it was very well played out. As fitting a conclusion to such a premise as you could get.

Oh I do agree that its way better than the "fate/god or whatever" option.

But a guy who desperately wants to go home all series, suddenly on the last episode revealing that it was himself keeping himself from returning home..? Hell of a right turn and seemed contradictory to he character's known motivations throughtout the series.. it just smacked of "screw what made the series great, lets end it this way"..
When you watch any reruns with the knowledge that its him preventing himself leaping home, it nullifies all dialogue/acting/plot in the series centered around Sam's frustration and near solitude.
And why not leap into his own life as himself at his leaving age every now and then...?

And even if it was himself making himself leap, it wasnt explained how he would be able actually do that in the first place, scientifically, not even alluding to it...rejecting the opportunity to score sci-fi points.
Instead relying on assumptions about the power of god to fill in the blanks in the mind of the viewer.

Forget what answers Sam deserved, what did we who all followed the series from day one deserve..? 😛

(Not that writers were really on the ball int he last seasons anyway, from what I remember... lots of near shark jumpings, even though I did like the JFK episode.)

Have you seen the BSG finale yet?

Yes, it wasn't much good.

It wasn;t a right turn, btw. It was a revelation of perspective. It was absolutely and 100% in keeping with what the series had always been saying. Sam just wanted to help people; that is all he ever wanted.

Absolute 100% answers spelled out beyond that were unnecessary and the desire for them not laudable.

How would you have wanted BSG to end?

Do you think Caprica will be any good?

I had a problem with Starbucks' story. She just disappears hahahahah ok ok the joke is on me. Starbuck was an angel. Yeah, i mean, ok i'll buy that but dude, give me something more to work with other than...,"and then,Starbuck miraculously disappears."

And Admiral Adama, come on Now, What, I'm supposed to believe that he is going to abandon his son and people just because he has a little broken heart?

i don't know, the finale, was a rushed ending to an intricate story. Maybe, i'm just not that smart. though and missed something 🙁

Just watched BSG:The Plan. Won't spoil it for people that are actually watching it. It was ok I guess. I feel the title (The Plan) is misguiding. The attack on Caprica scene is pretty cool. Brother Cavil is one cold/sick bastard. Never realize that Ellen Tigh has such a great body. I got a feeling we'll see more of these movies to answer some of the lingering questions.

i need to see that. i meant to watch it yesterday, but ended up watching aeon flux... i don't know why...

Aeon Flux over BSG? No wonder the world is going to hell! lol.

I finally got to see BG:The plan.....i enjoyed it...but i might agree the title is a little misleading....but there were some questions answered and i did find myself wanting more.
