to a ferret(s) they grow to be close. i've seen many pics on the web of cats/ferrets and dogs/ferrets playing and hanging out.

That's true. But I got Kaleb when he was an adult and not the friendliest dog in the world. I've trained him intensively and now he's a teddy bear, but he hates the ferrets with a passion. Kai is a 5-month-old pup and he's been around them since the start so he doesn't mind them as much.
