sorry about that last post.. I've been playing DND a long time.. Mostly 3.5. Why don't we just use a 30 point point buy method instead of rolling? It's more predictable and cannot be cheated. A 25 point version is described on page 169 of the dm's guide

That last post was meant for ability score generation... Anyway a very usefull place to go for people lacking books is (i will describe a method for getting there because i cannot post links) Search "System Reference Document 3.5" on google. It's like the third link down i think. IT describes all core rules for 3.5 and much more. Psionics, epic levels, divine levels.

okie dude listen up as long as I run this RPG, which I am I will NOT use a point buying system certainly not a 30 points buying system. The Dice can't be cheated cause I, as DM, roll them.

There is no need to describe all the core rules since I don't even use half. Psionics aren't allowed in the game and they will probably never reach epic levels.

Sorry if I offended you but the SRD (the site i posted) is very helpful for those who don't have the books, ofcourse if you don't want your players to know the rules thats fine, albeit suspicious. It not only describes psionics and epics and divine levels, but also all the core rules. Finally, it seems you may not understand the point buy system. If you do I apologize in advance and truthfully do not wish to offend, but it could prove to be much more efficient for character creation at any time you may be absent.

Indeed, but the game has started.

It isn't hard if we actually wanted to trawl through sets of rules to find them on the internet. The point of a GM is to know what's going on, so we can be free to concentrate on role playing. It's not like if we thought something 'suspicous' was going on, we coudn't find out.

That, and the fact Fire is a trusted member of the community, actually makes his behavious completely free of any suspicion whatsoever.

I probably should've stated that I meant for this to be used in another RP somewhere down the line. Thank you Trickster for actually considering my idea instead of instantly trying to muscle my idea out. I have a tendency to leave out small details like that when just posting about and not rp'ing.

Well, like I say, if you think you'll get players for another D&D RP, it's your right on the forum to make another one.

And if you're not planning on playing here, or creating a character, then try not to criticise the GM.

Well actually, however different may opinion may be, I kind of like how fire is handling the game so I believe I will make a character.

I wish to make the character Torren, Human Monk, 6' 1" around 200 lbs. So, you roll the dice for stats and I do everything else right?

I understand how the point buy system works, I've been playing DnD since I was 11 years old, I know how it works and I know the rules.

The reason why I don't allow it is because it allows ppl to create the exact same stats every time. It cancels out the luck (good or bad) from the dice which makes characters more flat and a lot less fun.
People can create flat characters like fighters who have a good str,dex and con, but totally suck at the mental stats. I've seen ppl walk around with physical stats ranging from 18-16 and mentals all ranging from 8-6. Characters like that are A) unbelievable, B) extremely flat and C) are massive sign of power play.

Now if someone gets good rolls with the dice that's a good stroke of luck for them, if they get bad rolls it is well bad luck (but the dice rolls are hardly ever that bad)

The reason why I don't think it is necessary for my players to know all the rules is because DnD is complex enough as it is table top, let alone online.

Plus my players are going to be jack shit with the rules in the book if they do not correspond with my house rules, off which I have tons.

Normally yes but the game is at a halt for the moment, seeing as how I have exams these days, plus there are also a few people waiting in queue before you. I won't allow more than six players. So with any luck a few will

I might have come at you a tad harsh, I apologize for that.

But I will not have players or interested-to-play-people argue with me all the time. Sometimes I adapt rules, some rules I even blatantly ignore because I think of them as idiotic or because they are very unfit for online play. I want ppl to accept that, if you play an RPG you have to be able to trust your GMs decision.

Does anyone know anything of sidewinder?

I know a little about him...

(woops, sorry for the late reply) so you still feel like joining?

Description of Audron Electricus: 5' 10", 140lb, 16 years of age. Born and raised in Glabryn, fathered by a smith and mothered by a nurse on the payroll of a cleric Audron is and has always been a very charismatic (18), intelligent (14) boy. He had common sense, but unlike his other mental attributes he is only averagely wise (10). He always endures and can concentrate well on a single task, and rarely got sick due to his above average constitution (13). He tries to rely on his average dexterity (10) to prove he is worth something physically, claiming he has a runners build, but usually falls short when put to a test of strength (7). Girls have always adored him for his appealing looks and barely shoulder length curly brown hair, which he is quite fond of. His eyes are an intense turquoise, and some people claim to have seen streaks of blue flicker about them during times of emotional or physical extreme. Audron never really developed broad shoulders, physically he is just a long, slim guy, which never helped him around father's shop.
Since he was a small boy and when he began to develop his internal arcane power his mother has filled his head with stories of being extremely distantly related to a great copper dragon, which explains his sorcerous skill. She also used this story to explain why he was so very attractive and charismatic, due to the fact that coppers are the supposed "jokesters" and "long winded" of the dragons. Ofcourse this story is of a different style when his father tells it, claiming the dragon was blue. Beyond himself and his parents no one really believes he is related to any type of dragon, just one of the lucky few who developed sorcery. If Audron hasn't already told you of his believed relative, you can guarantee to hear something about it down the line.
Audron knew his magical prowess and charisma were his finest assets, and practiced everyday with dreams of one day becoming an adventurer. In his earlier years Audron found he was not much help to his father, but could always lend a hand (physically or otherwise) to his mothers nursing. He never cared for taking care of others, he was in it for the experience in alchemy. Around the age of 13 while Audron was sneaking out of his home to visit his latest squeeze, both of his parents were killed in a housefire with no apparent cause. This put Audron on the street with what little gold he inherited from his parents death, a sum of 75gp and the clothes on his back. Audron was heartbroken but not helpless, he quickly invested in items of self defence and a tougher pair of boots. After a short time Audron found a job at a local inn and bar (You may name the Inn if you so desire fire) where he worked for no pay, just a place to sleep at night for the next 3 years. Whatever other money he makes is selling alchemical items and liquids to the inn-keep and anyone else who is interested in in cheap, mundane acids, poisons, maybe a smokestick, tindertwig or an above average cup of ale. Around the same time he came to the inn for work, and what got him the job in the first place, he was hired to crawl into a small space and scare away a small creature.. This creature just happened to be a small cobra who, when the two looked at eachother from underneath the floor boards, Audron instantly felt was important to him and recovered from underneath the inn. Convincing the inn keep to let it live, Audron has kept it with him at all times since and seems to have even created an arcane bond with the still growing viper.

Summary: Audron is a quick witted, slim, handsome, hardened human male. In full gear he wears a durable, black, leather and cloth explorers outfit including black leather gloves and boots. This is covered with a black leather cloak and hood. You would think some people to mistake him for a rogue because of his dark outfit, which he does wear for the stealth benefits, but most don't due to probably running into him at the inn and bar he works at.
