Larger Avatars For Veterans

just a case that most of the people i talk to (yourself included) are past that on year mark... this place is intimidating enough for new users without more differences between them... thats all... i just believe there should be more than one criteria...

People are intimidated by this place? 😆

not the way your thinking... unless its the matrix forum 😛

in the way that everyone seems to know everyone else... a new user would be like wtf?

Oh. Well, the designated forums do seem to be rather clique-ish. MDF, not so much. The same can be said for the moderators, so I've noticed. I guess the best way to get along with others is just wiggle your way right in. Best way to open the door for others is the "Welcome" forum, given you're sincere in your invitation to the site.

yeah thats the best way i suppose...

I think the larger avatars are a good thing (biased, totally) in that they give another incentive to remain with KMC... if it were related to post count there would be an influx of crap posted (enough of that already).... please don't take away our avvies cry

LOL!
fine! then Ill just have to wait for two more months then (even though now am not really agreeing with this in two months i totally will) 😈

I want to be a veteran, or or or, I will say you are all mean (maybe I will even post that in my Cave) yes I would do that, that evil I am ✅

I have mixed emotions on the "dot" thing. While they can be kinda cool, I think that they are also elitist in a way. Just my 2 cents. 🙂

Let me explain myself.
I didnt mean elitist as in "oooooooohhhh Im so jealous!!"
I myself, could care less, but there are quite a few people that use these kinds of things as an excuse to say, "Ive got a bigger av and more dots so Im smarter than you" kind of way.
There are people that are under the impression that because they've been here longer they know more than the guy who joined yesterday. It's not just KMC, it's that way on all forum boards. Just human nature I guess.

My only reason for wanting a bigger av is because I usually use a picture like the one I have now and shrinking them sometimes ruins them, although the one I have now worked out nicely. Im fine with the bigger av for people whoi have been here a year. It's a nice little present from the Razmataz, I just think dots would be overkill. 🙂

I agree with that.... I think the larger avatars are sort of an appreciation gesture for those of us who have been around more than a year.... in fact, I think I'd be able to handle him upping the stakes to 18 months, for instance. Maybe that would be more sufficient? Some people seem to think only a year is too little 😬

Now there I disagee......18 months is way too long. A year is a long time to post on one board consistently and should be rewarded as such.

18 months is not too long.

How old do you have to be to become a vet

1 yr at KMC

I dont have that long then

You will never reach the standards required schmoll

A year and a half is WAY too long considering the nature of the site and its turnover. You already get to customize your user title after a number of posts, so I'd rather not see anything else compromised after the avatar.

it'll always be a discussion as to when you can be considered a vet

I was trying to pacify those who believe it to be unfair that having been here a year you automatically get a larger avatar, when post count/material isn't taken into consideration 😬
