Smoking

I never got the point in smoking cigarettes.. when I lived in North Carolina it felt good to smoke in the cold.. but other than that I never got any sort of enjoyment out of it. But let people smoke whatever the hell they want.. doesn't bother me.

From my experience very few smokers show common curtesy (sp).

I used to work as a Street Sweep and general tidier of my village during the summers. It was guaranteed that the majority of the litter I would sweep up were cigarette butts or packs and their plastic wrappers

What really pissed me off was at the bus stops; there are bins right next to them and those ciggie smoking bellends would still just throw them on the ground. Sometimes right in front of me while I was sweeping!! Plebs.

At the football too. The announcer guy always says "please refrain from smoking during the game." Damn smokers still smoke even though you tell them to stop.

Smokers piss me off.

I was offered a smoke when I was in middle school, all of the "cool kids" (aka future grocery store clerks and mcdonald employees) were watching. I told the guy "no because I enjoy being alive", or something to that effect. Sure, they thought I was a loser or whatever, but who cares.

Yay for you honey, unfortunately I didn't have either your self preservational instinct or inner security. In hindsight, obviously I wish I could have done the same 😬

Awesome stuff I heard on the news.

Some man in America is banning his employees from smoking anywhere, anytime. Genius, awesome, I love it.

He wants a healthier more productive work-force and thinks that non-smokers will cost his company less in medical bills and will be healthier longer, and hence work longer.

Personally I think that smoking is a personal matter, if one chooses to smoke, so let it be.
I smoke and I must admit it is a little unattractive, but I am just a social smoker, I dont smoke when I am at home.
I don't drink and I don't do drugs so I do like to have a ciggy.

i quit smoking with my girlfriend at the time like 3 years ago, we said we would do it together. I quit for good and she started smoking two weeks after we started. Some people just can't hack it i suppose

i used to be bothered that several of my friends some cigs alot. and then i just got over it. i actually have started smoking clove cigarettes, for the taste. i want to smoke them, no one forced me into doing it

Smoke has a tendency to not stay around your own head, dunno if you noticed.

If you light up a cigarette in a room full of non-smokers, as I've said before, they have the right to complain and you should show common courtesy and leave.

If someone walks into a room where smokers are smoking, they forfeit their right to openly complain IMO.

Hmm, from a smoker's point of view that sort of ignorant comment is extremely irksome. I do not smoke to look 'cool' 🙄 I smoke because I want to. Not to satisfy anyone else's judgements.

You started because of peer pressure though, right?

Not judging or anything. One would assume that those who start because of friend pressure, do so to look cool or to fit in. Just curious.

Why do you want to smoke Syren? Some people are addicted to it others do it for social acceptance (i.e. to look cool). I can't think of any other reason really.

I don't know... it was initially because I was 11, and yes, I wanted to look cool in front of my friends. But the above generalisation of it being cool for everyone was wrong, IMO. I grew out of the need to be socially acceptable years ago, so I'd say it's more an addiction now, of course. I've been smoking nine years so there's really no doubt that I'm addicted 🙄

Sy, have you tried the patches, and other remedies that are supposed to help people give up smoking.
